Weight loss progress graph

Recommended Posts

Here is my Fitday graph of weight lost in the last 9 months or so. As you'll see, it's by no means a straight line. But it ends up going in the right direction!!

Very cool! Any conclusions about the downward trends, what caused them or has it just been consistency and patience? In other words, during those quick slips downward, had you just had a fill, or not necessarily...are you getting my drift? If not, I'll come up with some new words because these aren't coming out nicely...duh.

Kathy, I know what you're asking and the answer is not really. Except for the period right after Christmas, when I had a new fill and strep throat to boot, the last fill had been in June of '04.

I just thought it would be instructive to see what the chart looks like when someone plots their weights frequently. People get so hung up on the numbers-per-week that it's almost like they're missing the forest for the trees.

Lots of people would have been undone by those upswings, losing hope or thinking it was all a lost cause. But bince July of last year I've lost 40+ pounds, or an average of 4-5 lbs per month. And that's the SECOND year of being banded! :)

Alex-

thanks for the chart. I think it's important for people- especially newbies- to see the ups and downs, but the concistancy of the downward trend. It's really easy to totally over react to gaining a few pounds here and there and lose sight of the big picture- that this is the rest of our lives.

You've done so fantastic, and I just love your attitude, Alex. Thanks again.

Megan

Paula, the good news is that the reflux is gone except for very slight symptoms if I eat too late at night. So it's manageable. However, it's scared me off of wanting any more fill anytime soon.

In statistics, we call that an irregular downward trend. :) I think you should post it with your before/after montage. Yes, I think that is a great idea. Congrats on the hard work!

Very cool! Do you have a similar chart for your first year?

No, and now of course I wish I did. It wasn't until I bought the home version of Fitday that I started charting my weight loss with any kind of consistency, and that didn't happen until June of '04.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
