Greetings all,

I'm a little over 3 weeks out. At my 2 week check up, my drs Phys Assistant told me I could have mushies and some solids with restraint... lean meats well chewed, etc. chicken with cooked veggies, no raw stuff. I have been following that being very careful to chew and go slowly. But the last couple of days, I would be eating something for a meal, and noticed that I had been mindlessly eating too quickly or taking bites that are too big. Overall, I've been keeping it at 1400 cal a day as I don't feel too much restriction so I'm just using old fashioned will power.

So I woke up this morning with a feeling of pressure in the chest area... just a tiny bit of discomfort. However, being new at this I freaked out and got up and walked, drank Water and coffee, burped, burped some more. I took Gas-X.

2 things bother me, 1) I feel guilty because I slipped back into an old habit of eating too fast and taking bites that were too big and 2) I'm worried I've screwed something up. Since then I've eaten some cottage cheese and it all seems okay, though I feel like I did a week out with a full feeling I didn't have yesterday. I'm not in any pain, I feel no nausea. Worst case band slip (though no nausea or pain) best case gas... since I've been burping that seems to be a possibility. I ate my last bit of food pretty late last night and that may be part of the problem.

One of the worst things is the anxiety. I think I'm going back to full liquid mushies (grits/mashed pototoes) for a couple of days... I think it could be gas, I hope it's not a band slip, though I guess that's my biggest overall fear anyway.

One good thing... I've gotten up to where I can walk one mile at one time which is major for me compared to what I was capable of 2 months ago.

Thanks for listening....sorry about the long post.

RELAX You probably just have gas and your flipping out for nothing. I know its scary the first time you get bad gas or pb. But relaxing always helps both situtations. If you eat to close to when you lay down it probably doesn't get a chance to digest and lays in your pouch causing gas.

I know the pain you are feeling and I was scared to death !!! I lived on ga x for the first couple of weeks. I was convinced my band had slipped and I was having problems. It did end up just being gas. The more you walk the more that will stay away. I walk 30 minutes a day now (which is a lot for me).....good luck to you !!!

I was exactly the same. I thought that the band had slipped and insisted my doctor give me an xray! Well we watched on the screen together while I swallowed some white liquid and we could see the band and the liquid passing through as it should. After about 5 days the pain and symptoms went away and it has been fine ever since. But I was sure worried. It just seems that all these things are par for the course.

I so understand your pain. I had over a week of it (gas). It got easier over the course of the week but the first 4 days or so, I hurt so bad, I wanted my band removed.

I took Maalox Total Care and it helpd with the gas and nausea I was expereincing. I slept slightly reclined in my theatre seating as it was better than lying down (for about 10 days).

Then walk as much as possible even around the house. That is what I did.

I hope this helps.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
