I got my tricare approval today!! I have a surgery date of 11 August. That is so just around the corner. I had heard that it went fast with tricare after they gave the go ahead, and they were right. I only have 1 day of pre-op diet (liquid). The lady at the surgeons office said there was a group of us that came in at the same time, so hopefully I will b meeting someone locally soon to talk to about all the lapband stuff. Well better run just wanted to chime in and say I'm one stap closer. :biggrin2:

Air Force Wife here. We are stationed at MacDill AFB here in Tampa, Florida.

I can't believe you only have liquid diet for one day. Mine was two weeks...did they talk to you about the dangers of a "fatty liver?"

Congrats on your approval, isn't it exciting?

Robin

You guys are so lucky! I had two weeks of liquids before surgery also......but I did lose 12 lbs and got a good headstart, so I guess I shouldn't complain.

Congratulations!!!

Congratulations on getting your surgery date. It will be here before you know it.

I had a 10 day pre-op diet, but it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Good luck!

I've got 2 weeks for pre-op diet. Boo. When we did LA Weight Loss they had a liquid diet you had to do for a few days and I was a witch, so I can only imagine how I'll be for this after 2 weeks. *lmao*

I WAS WONDERING. DOES TRICARE PAY FOR THE WHOLE PROCEDURE? I JUST GOT QUALIFIED AND NOW HAVE TO MEET WITH THE DR. ON FRIDAY. I HAVE TO SEE A PSYCOLOGIST JUST TO MAKE SURE I KNOW OF ALL OF THE RISK AND MY LIFE STYLE AFTER. I HOPE TO GET THE PROCEDURE BEFORE MY HUSBAND DEPLOYS. IF ANYONE CAN, CAN YOU PLEASE GET BACK TO ME. THANKS:thumbup:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
