I finally got my date! August 21st!!

Now that I am an offical August bandster, I can now sign...

August All-Stars!!

Wow, this is moving fast...I started on July 8 and will be banded 6 weeks later! yippeee.... I am glad it went pretty smooth though.

A little about myself. My name is Jackie, I have been married for 16 years. We have four boys, 16,14,11,5. I am a mostly a SAHM, work for the school a little. I volunteer alot of my time. PTA, Boosters, MOPS. Next June is my 40th birthday and I am planning on doing it BIG. Hopfully close to my goal weight, going on a cruise with my sisters to Celebrate my 40th. I have plenty of motivation to loose this weight!

Fee, that is a giant bummer! I'm glad that you are going to give it another go and we're glad that you are here with us. I hope that you'll be able to give us some good advice as we all get going on the 1st!

Yes its a bummer. I wasnt going to give it another go at first, but then i tho well they have to take this one out so they might as well put another one back in. If this one doesnt work then that will be it for me, but im sure its going to work well.

If anyone needs advice just ask and i will try to help. Goodluck to all:smile:

Hi All,

There are so many ways to communicate with people on this site, I'm still learning all of it! I am scheduled for my "office day" on the 29th and getting banded on August 6th. I started my pre-op diet on Monday and then realized I didn't have my farewell to cheesecake, so I did that lastnight and I suppose I have re-started the pre-op diet today. (what a knucklehead!!) I'm doing the Low Carb Slim fast for 2 meals and eating dinner and fruit for Snacks. It's no fun...for sure. Looking forward to the band taking this hunger away!

Can't wait to share the journey with all of you!

~Michelle

Hi All!!

I'm getting banded on Aug. 11th. I'm so excited. It's been a long journey for me, I started this process last year. I probably could have had the surgery earlier, but who would have though it would have been so hard to get my medical records from the last 5 years.:smile2:

I'm from Dallas, TX but my insurance company wants me to go to Decatur, TX for the surgery (An hour away from Dallas). I have my pre-op appointment on the 8th of Aug. I will be banded by either Dr. Benavides or Dr. Felts.

Good Luck to everyone this month!!!

Yep I had my pre-op too yesterday and everything is good to go for sx on the 1st.

My Dr says I don't have to do any more pre-op dieting because I've lost 4.4kgs already (just under 10 pds) but I told him that I'd like to continue as it's helping me with learning to control my head hunger, and he was okay with it. He told me though that if I wanted a naughty meal here and there before sx to not feel bad about it. :)

But to be honest I've got a lot of the head hunger under control now so am too scared to let myself loose!

Lellow - I'm glad your pre-op went well too...That's so awesome you have conquered the whole head thing! Your going to do so great with you band! Goodluck next Friday....I'm leaving out of town for alittle over a week so I'm not sure if I'll get on here again during the week or not.

Cutie:

That is so great! What great news you have been given. I'm so envious.

I went for a cardiology consult today, and discovered I have bradycardia, a heart murmur, and "swooshing" in my neck (I'm guessing they are going to rule me out for carotid artery disease tomorrow as I have an echocardiogram of my neck tomorrow). THEN, double YUK!, on July 29th, I have to go for a CT angiogroaphy. I am so not looking forward to that. Has anybody ever had one? I could use some pep talks because someone told me at work today that it is not pleasant! I have heart disease in my family and sometimes get numbness in my arms and dizziness when I climb stairs, but I just thought it was because I was F-A-T! Bummer....

Vegas I just saw your post. I'm so sorry to hear that!! How did everything go today? You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Hello everyone,

I'm being banded on August 21 and just ordered my Optifast today, which I will begin on the 7th. Boy, oh boy I gotta tell you that lately I'm getting sick of grocery shopping and cooking "full" meals, especially in this muggy heat (in Canada anyway); and it's just ME to cook for so I really don't feel like cooking. I am looking forward to getting started with my Optifast, even though it's going to be rather boring. What's for Breakfast? a shake, and lunch? another shake, supper? another one, yeah, minimal dishes  Plus I get to have about three cups of veggies and the two weeks will be kinda blah, but hey it's only two weeks out of my life, right? I got all my blood work and final paperwork sent off this week, so now I'm just waiting for the 7th to arrive!

Thanks for your kind wishes. (Man! I don't know what's been going on with me getting on this site, but everytime I click on one of my subscribed threads, it's been shutting me down.)

Anyway, I had an ultrasound of my heart and carotids on Thursday, and this Tuesday, I have a CT Angiography....I am NOT looking forward to THAT! Has anybody ever had one of those?

I'm freaking out because what if they not only find something, but they find something that needs to be fixed before lapband?

Has that ever happened to anyone? Do you think bradycardia or some carotid artery stenosis would prevent me from getting surgery? Maybe I only have a little problem or maybe I don't even HAVE a problem, and I'm over-reacting. Who knows? I'm just freaking out. BooHoo....but I've lost 13 lbs! :confused2:

Cutie, glad to have you back. Hope you had a swell time. I don't know if you've seen some of my other posts, but I'm ok to go to surgery. Yeah! My cardiologist had good news for me. I've got a clean bill of health from him and ready to go August 14th. You must be getting nervous.

Lellow should be out of surgery. I wonder how she's doing. I haven't hear from her in a while. Lellow! I am sending good wishes your way!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
