Hello all!

My name is Nicole, 29 yrs old from Queens NY, I'm excited about this forum. Its nice to have people that you can relate to and ask specific questions to. I was banded on June 16, 2008 and have officially lost 20.5lbs according to the scale at my doctors office. My scale at home, which is suspect says I lost an additional 6lbs. My question to all you losers :) (weight loss that is) is how has your diet been? Are you low carbing or counting calories? How about exercise? How soon did you start exercising and what have you done? I'm waiting for the go ahead to start working out, right now I can only walk on the treadmill. I have really big arms and I was wondering what type of workouts everyone did. I long to go sleeveless and I can't wait to see a collar bone..LOL I want a normal life and a healthy social life. I'm turning the bif 3-0 in November and want to Celebrate with a big bang.

Congratulations on being the biggest loser. I have not been banded yet. I'm still doing the six month supervised diet. Keep up the good work.

I didnt/dont do anything special.

I dont count, weigh, measure and I certainly dont low carb. I eat like a normal person, from all the food groups, in reasonable quantities. I break out now and again if its a special occasion or holiday or whatever, but very much in moderation compared to before. I eat 3 meals a day and try to eat nothing in between, it'll usually be Cereal for Breakfast, a sandwich for lunch, and meat and 3 veg for dinner type of thing, although we eat pasta/rice dishes too. Every now and then we have take away.

I dont do Protein shakes, low fat, artificial sweeteners. I try to eat fresh food and avoid packaged and canned stuff.

I run for about an hour, four to five days a week, one of those runs will be as long as two hours as I'm training for a half marathon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
