Lets see. I work at home taking care of 3 severely mentally retarded men, I manage the house and the staff as well as providing direct care. And I go to school to become an American Sign Language Interpreter. Oh, and during the summer I work full time at our local electric company. It is not uncommon for me to work 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. (I get to sleep "on the clock")

My title is "Retention Advisor" for a TRiO grant at a community college. We in TRiO serve students who have a disability, are low income, and/or are first generation. I help them with degree and career planning, finding local resources for housing, transportation, etc., scholarships and federal financial aid, and exposing them to cultural events like plays and musicals. Sometimes I have to act as counselor too, though I'm really more an advisor than counselor.

My hubby works in higher ed too. He is a professor of Music and First Year Experience. His title is "Resident Master", meaning he has programming duties along with the teaching. We live in with the students as well, in the residence hall.

We're also parents to our daughter, who is six. She'll soon start 1st grade. This summer we're busy chauffering her to dance, gymnastics, and swimming.

I just read this today - any job that you whistle on the way to work is a good one - try to find something that makes you happy first and pays the bills. I'm off the fast track now - my boyfriend and i moved to utah and are basically ski bums in the winter. he now longer grinds his teeth to nubs and I sleep all night. he makes a bit m ore money as a computer consultant so i can work pt at various jobs (exec asst, substitute teacher, work at ski resort in winter). We are definitely less well off but much m uch happier.

I am a teacher of kids with visual impairments.

Anyone else notice how many of us are helpers/nurturers? Even Teresita! If that isn't a service worker, I don't know what is!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
