  1. lmao @ the new undies...I think he may prefer a thong! I don't see why not, it's just an information session and should not be a problem at all. My two daughters came with me on mine but asked them to stay in the waiting area (they are young and I didn't want them at the time to know anything). Give the office a call but I really don't think it will be a problem. Good luck and let me know how it goes. Joann (a.k.a....betty!)
  2. Congrats Neenah, Dr. Mumford did my surgery on June 15th and did a terrific job, you will be fine in his hands. A suggestion regarding your financing. If you have enough equity in your home do your best to get an unsecured line of credit. It may take some huffing and puffing (they tried that with me) but worth not linking it to your home. If not, you've got to do what you've got to do to get it done! Good luck, Joann
  3. I'm a real estate agent in Ontario, single mom 24 hrs a day, mower of 5 acres, caregiver of hamster and dog and friend to many!
  4. Oh Sunshine, don’t despair! We will always go through life with people standing in our way; it’s just a matter of walking around them to get to where you want to be instead of letting other stand in our way. The easiest solution is this; today, go to your bank and cancel your other cheque and get a bank draft, take it to the local mail boxes inc and send it one or two day courier. The cost to you is about 6.5 for the draft and 9. for the postage and 30 minutes of your time. Next, call and ask to speak to your Doctor in person. Tell him you don’t like the “service” and know they are better than this…….and yes, they are! Request that your support person be changes (Rose is very nice at the office). Get the issue resolved with the Optifast and see if there is a replacement formula……or just a strict diet. Remember that you are doing this for you and not Kathy and the bigger the obstacles, the greater the reward. I’m one week post-op and know what you mean about the optifast but I look at it as though in the long run, it’s a very short period of time I will at some point…… forget. I’m down 20 lbs on that opti-crap diet in the last three weeks and would battle it out with any rude, abrasive smart ass, self absorbed assistant any day to be at the point I am today. Chin up, dukes up……and come out fighting, just don’t give up!
  5. Good luck and much happiness to you Mandi.
  6. Well, I'm just a week post op and the thought of the PB's and sliming family and friends is repulsive, I have stuck to it 95%. As for excercise, I can't wait to get back to the gym next week but don't know how I too will be able to juggle it all. Those days of eating and driving are long gone so preparation is going to be work for a while....it's a lifestyle change we all will get used to and be glad for it.
  7. C'mon Pa....let's go see the purdy lights! When I went to my nurse practicioner to do the post OP exam (no doctors to be found in the Orangville area) she didn't have a clue what the lap band was....imagine that! I too found the lap band on my own via the internet and many hours of research before commiting. I guess the easiest thing is to blame it on what is obvious and new to the body then take the time to investigage and do the proper tests. Good luck to her and hopefully they find the issue and resolve it quickly.
  8. Granlady.....when you figure it out, you let me know! I have posted help on it with no luck.
  9. First off...congrats Secondly......you have already lost 22 pounds Thirdly.......it's all downhill from here!!!!!! yippeee I was banded on Thursday and drooled over a veggie craker tonight, took one nibble and grabbed a popsicle. I can't wait until I can blend up some (half fat) cream of mushroom Soup. It will get better but you need to change your focus and look at acheiving some other personal goals to take your mind off old bad habits. It will get easier when you have established new eating habits but I do understand how your feeling. They brought pizza into the office today and it was all I could do to not just take a pc. into my office...chew it and spit it back out just to taste it.......lol No, I didn't and after the smell was gone, glad I didn't. Just think, in another week you will be down another 5 pounds or so and can start blending stuff and all the taste you miss will be back. Yep, if I keep saying it....I too will believe it....lol Chin up, we share the same boat........next week, a tuna boat!
  10. Okay...I still can't figure out how that ticker thing works!!!....... help!
  11. Good luck with it....and don't eat the bread. I hear you would be sliming your best friends like Alien if you do....lol
  12. I was banded last Thursday by Dr. Mumford in Mississauga, On. and would really like to update my page here. I can't seem to get a ticker on my signature or my picture when I post, it's only on my personal page. If anyone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it.
  13. Glad everything went well, I was done on Thursday. Get some well deserved rest and keep everyone posted.
  14. I'm home and fully banded. It was a long two weeks on Optifast but a great 13 pound head start pre-op that ended with me just about locking myself in the OR washroom....lol Had to remember why I was doing it..one look in the mirror answered that question and thinking back to my mom and her "no big deal " knee replacement just reinforced why I should just suck it up and get in there. I think just laying there with my eyes closed was the best thing. Within 1 minute of the IV going in....I was driffing and woke without too much pain, no nasea (thank goodness) and for the next few hours, just drifted in and out of sleep. I was banded Thursday by Dr. Mumford in Mississauga, On. and home early that afternoon. Some sharp shoulder pain for the first couple of days when I would lay back but fine sitting up right. No other issues outside of the pain of trying to burp but it eventually makes it's way up.......Good greif, I hope I never get the hiccups!!!!! Now the real countdown begins! :clap2:
