Idiots!!

Okay, I need to share a storey. I am so sick of close-minded doctors!! I don't live in "Boonville" or somewhere, but I do live in a way smaller area compared to a big city. An acquantince of mine who has been banded for a while (found lap band herself, not by doc) who has lost over 100 lbs, has recently taken ill. They say she has some kind of abcest or something. Every doctor is telling her that it is the bands fault, then the surgeon comes to her and says that he won't even look at her until she removes the band!!! :frusty: WTF~!! Finally her band surgeon arranged to have her admitted in his city to look after her, he does not think its the band, but will look after her. I'm telling ya, if I have any problems, I'm driving straight to Toronto!!! Why arnt these Doctors getting the message about Lap Band, it's been around for 15 years!!! Holy Crap!!

I just realized how nasty this post makes me sound. I'm not a negative person, and I know there are thousands upon thousands of wonderful Docters out there. My apolgies to THOSE Docters!

C'mon Pa....let's go see the purdy lights!

When I went to my nurse practicioner to do the post OP exam (no doctors to be found in the Orangville area) she didn't have a clue what the lap band was....imagine that!

I too found the lap band on my own via the internet and many hours of research before commiting. I guess the easiest thing is to blame it on what is obvious and new to the body then take the time to investigage and do the proper tests. Good luck to her and hopefully they find the issue and resolve it quickly.

I hear ya Cloe. Some docs. can be quite narrow-minded...which is rather ironic. I hope your friend gets well soon and it is nothing serious.
