Starving in the afternoon!

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any suggestions for combating afternoon hunger?

I've had three fills, up to 5ccs in a 10cc band. Don't think I'm at that sweet spot yet, but the doctor wouldn't fill it anymore this past time because I refluxed a little with the barium.

I have no problem in the morning. Usually eat a Protein Bar. Then for lunch concentrate on more Protein - about a cup, but then from about 1pm to 4pm I can't seem to get full...it is aweful! Then at dinner, I eat a little and go the rest of the night with no issues.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Eat.

I eat 5-7 times a day so between those hours you mentioned I've eaten once or twice.

You are doing great!

I have the same problem with afternoon hunger. What I have started doing, like Vegas said, is eat.

I tend to have trouble squeezing all my Fluid in during the day because I work in a medical lab and we are not allowed to have any food or beverages around. So when I pack my lunch I put in a bottle of Water with those crystal light single servings for Water bottles. I drink that on the way home ( which takes about 30min) and then after I get home I grab a quick healty snack. Then I have dinner between 6:00pm. and 7:00p.m. That's how I stop myself from really screwing my diet for the day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
