Hello i'm stuck... and a bit lost lol

Recommended Posts

Hello, I got banded Nov 30th, 2007 and since then i have lost 36 lbs. 15 on my pre op diet and then 10 the first month and then a very slow 2 to 3 lbs a month since. i hardly notice i have a band in dispite having 3 or 4 large fills ( I can't remember exactly) I can eat anything and sometime i still do. for example yesterday i ate like 3 peices of pizza for lunch. I don't think this is normal. Last time I had a fill the Dr. added 1 cc and i think it was suddenly to tight and had 1/2 cc taken back out and then i went back to eating with no restriction. I am thinking I overreacted to maybe a normal fill restriction? the problem was every bite i took, no matter how soft or hard, hurt. It felt like i had swollowed an icecube and it was forcing its way down. has anyone else felt this way? is it normal? should i get it filled somemore? I made an apt for tomorrow and now i am nervous. I really want to loose but there has to be a middle ground dosn't there? someone please give me some hope. lol

thanks

I can't speak from experience as I am new to this journey and I don't have restriction yet but I have read plenty and most people say they are tight for days after a fill, some doctor even require liquids for days after a fill (mine only 8 hours) then it begins to loosen up. Are you chewing well? My doctor says chew until almost liquified/pureed in my mouth before swallowing.

Good luck tomorrow! I would try again and see how it goes. Keep us informed.

i am right there with you. my last fill i was so tight that i couldn't swallow my own spit for 48 hours. i'm a little worried about this fill on saturday too. (i was banded oct 18 and i've lost 20 lbs.) i had some medical issues that i had to deal with since march though.

well last time i had the fill i kept it for over 6 weeks and it never went away. Now a part of me is thinking it was finally tight but not tight enough... that things were forcing themselves through and that maybe it if was just a little tighter they would sit in the smaller pouch for a longer amount of time and not hurt. Maybe this is crazy. lol

hmm well I am not banded yet but I know what they told me in the group meetings.. after a fill its liquids for 2 days then mushies for 2 days then soft food for 2. Also they told me that if I am having problems that its probably because I am not chewing good enough or Im taking too big of bites. So I dont know from experience but this is what I am being told at my pre op meetings

Just had my second fill now I have 6 1/2 cc's in my 12 cc band. Doc said liquids for 12 hours then soft foods only if I find I can't handle the solids.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
