Hi Kim (Peacedove),

I don´t think you should be so hard on yourself, your tummy has healed, you´ve already lost some weight and that is why you are feeling no restriction at all. Sounds to me like you need to get a fill so that you can limit your intake.

Obviously you are not making the right choice by heading to Wendy´s for a hamburger, but I bet there is not one person on this forum that has not had a cheat or three in the time that they have had their band.

We are food addicts, that is why we need our fills and this band. It is one of the worst addictions a person can have. We have to eat to live but we just need to really make the effort to choose the right foods to help our bodies.

Girl, I´ll hand you out your "punishment" if it will make you feel better....lol..... go do 2 x two hour walks this week-end....two on Saturday and two on Sunday. No excuses, report back.....lmao!!!

im on 3 week liquids 1st week clear last 2 full fluids. im also worried, i can eat to much. i mean i can eat the whole can of Soup 10 3/4 oz which is like two cups of soup. i dont know if that is to much or not, i cheated yesterday and ate a soft necterine, peeled it first then kinda sucked it and mashed it. i feel full after the soup is gone but i wonder if im just eating to much of it and maybe should only eat half the can?? i usually eat a yogurt in the morning, can of soup for lunch, can of soup for dinner and try to get in 1 Protein Shake and of course i hit the Water hard!!

Personally I don´t believe that a person should go hungry. If you are feeling like you need more, then make the right choices and eat something healthy that is going to satisfy you.

Your body needs the food to lose the weight, if you are hungry your body will store your fats and it gets harder to drop those kilo´s. Try eating every 3 to 4 hours, maybe have your Soups and then later a smoothie, then your protien shakes etc etc.

Don´t go hungry, that is not what this journey is about.

I know it's horrifying to put on even a few pounds when you have invested so much to lose it, but one thing that has been told me again and again through this process. That first 6 weeks isn't about losing weight. It's about healing. As soon as you get a fill, you will be losing again, and will find that those things you crave aren't so easy to eat. They will lose their sparkle. You're going to be fine!

Sounds like you may need to have more of those Protein shakes. I was doing pretty much the same thing you were and not seeing much result and not feeling too full either. I also was able to eat a can of soup, which didn't leave me feeling full for too long. I kept going over my diet guidelines and found that I wasn't getting enough Protein in. Proteins take longer to breakdown, thus the need for a high protein diet. Now I am up to 3-4 shakes and half a can of soup and feel totally satisfied. Since you are doing awesome with your Water intake, try adding some protein there too, for days when you just can't get as many shakes in.

When I starting adding more protein, the weight loss started up again. For 5 days I was stuck in the same place , but now it is coming off at a slow steady pace.

Good luck!!!!:biggrin2:

Sincerely,

Stephanie

Mrs J.J.

Hi. Looks like we were banded on the same day. Congrats. Are you getting ready to go back to work next week? If so, what is your plan? I go back Wednesday, but am considering working from home. Just to ease back in.

Also, do you find you can sleep on your left and right side? I woke up last night in a bit of pain.

tks, lasthope

Hi there lasthope,

I went back to work last week Monday, that was a wrong decision. Stayed off Tuesday and Wednesday and went back Thursday and Friday. I am off to Switzerland on Monday for a full week of work. (I travel a lot in my job).

At about day 8 I was able to sleep on my side. There have been times when I have tuned on my left side and felt a bit of uncomfort from my port.

I´m still getting tired when I am out the whole day, but that is understandable I think. We have put our bodies through a lot and they are busy healing.

Have you started on mushie foods yet? I was so happy to get something "real" to eat.

dolly lala,

that is so cute.

I asked my doctor that very question prior to my surgery. expect no low energy the first week. Second week, it is better. Try putting your protien powder in sugar free pudding cup. You will only feel like eating a couple of ounces the first two days. good luck

Just to update you, I am 1 week post op and my hunger came back with a vengence this weekend. It has been more than tough to stick to a liquid diet but I understand the reasons why. What I dont get is that even with liquids your stomach has to digest - so I can understand not eating a big steak but soft lean protiens seem like they would be ok at this point.

It was ok the first 5 days post op because I didnt want anything and anytime I did drink anything I was bloated and gassy. I am forcing myself to drink the Protein shakes, although I have changed it up a little and got the slim fast low carb shakes. But now everything smells and looks so good. I go to the doctor tomorrow and may beg for mushies. If I can eat fish I will be a happy camper!

Some other notable changes, I can now breathe and the pain in my chest has subsided. I can sleep on my right side - a little on my left - but not as much. The gas seems to be coming and going so I am not sure if this is still leftover CO2 from surgery or just from the liquid diet.

Sounds like you are doing much better. The only pain I have at this point is at my port site, other than that all seems to be going well.

Continued well wishes to you.

Sincerely,

Stephanie

I had my surgery this morning - and I am surprised by the tightness, too. It feels like it's in the ribcage and around to my mid-back. I keep walking in short spurts, and drink small sips of broth or Water. Any advice for other things that have worked for gas pressure? Gas X? I also can't believe how badly I just want to lay down....

I can hardly drink anything. I have had some cream of wheat and cream Soup but really only a few bites. I feel tremeadous pressure at the base/middle of my rib cage so when I drink or lay down it feel like someone is pushing my diaphram up into my chest. I guess that is normal right after surgery. I have added the protien powder to the cream of wheat and that was no biggie. I am not sure if it is the "gas" pressure or the swelling at this point.:cool2:

congratulations! I was banded 5 weeks ago. I can tell you I had pain in my ribcage for a couple weeks and the dr. told me it was the gas they use for the operation. you probably have some pressure from eating also, but just when you think your going to have it forever, it is gone, and keeps getting better. good luck, vicki

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
