Raleigh nc lapbander to be

Recommended Posts

I meet with Dr Enochs July 8th, I've had my labs, EKG, UGI and chest x-ray. I meet with the Dietician July 8th and have the Psyc eval July 11th. I have BCBS of NC. My questions are;

  • What kind of Pre-Op diet does Dr E put you on?
  • How long does it take to get your approval and surgery date?

I also am a patient of Dr. Enochs. I will be banded three weeks from today. I don't think he routinely puts people on a pre-op diet, it just depends on your circumstances - I have a visit with him on Tuesday to go over my labs, so I'll know more then. Insurance is more a function of your insurance company than the doctor, but this was my experience: it took about four days following my final visit with the psych (my last pre-op step) to get all the data collected and submitted to BCBS of NC. Once that happened (last Friday morning) I had approval on Wednesday morning, and was scheduled by mid-afternoon. I had already checked BCBSNC's criteria and I knew I met them all, but I didn't believe it until I heard it!

Good luck to you!

I also will be banded by Dr. Enochs on Aug 1st. My Insurance was submitted last friday and I was approved on Wednesday. I go over my lab results, EKG etc on July 10. I was only told Clear Liquids that day before and they can't be red or purple. I can't wait to be banded.

Do we have more than 1 apt with the Psych?? I also see Dr E Tuesday. I'll have the psyc visit this Friday. It is so exciting to think that I could have my date soon.

I had to have an intial evualution and then a results visit. She also would like her patients to be enrolled in anf aftere care program. Everyone is different. I did click with her and I did enroll in the after care program. I am sure there will be a lot of feelings as you go though this process. I have never known my adult self as a thin person. I have always been heavy for as long as I can remember.

I have BCBS of NC and they were a breeze - approved in just a couple of days.

I see Dr Enochs on July 10th for my pre-op testing results visit.

I am so ready to start this process. What about you?:)

Did you see Tammy? I see her Friday at Dr E's office. I just want to get it all done!! I can't wait.

I saw Lisa at her Wake Forest office. She was great and I really liked her since she had WLS herself she can identify with her clients. I wish you look in getting everything you need done.

I am not in NC but I use to live there and became aware of a Raleigh meetup group for WLS. If your interested in additional support other than from the hospital send me a private email and I send you the info.

Hi --I can't figure out how to introduce myself on this forum -- I just registered. But I am interested in your Raleigh experience because I live near there. I have been researching Mexico alternatives to US surgery too. I wish I knew more about how often "fills" have to be done.

I was on a liquid diet the day before surgery and that's it. What they don't want for you to do is treat the week before the surgery as "The Last Supper" because if your liver is enlarged from excessive over-eating, they cannot do the surgery. All the best!

I recently have looked for a surgeon to do my surgery. I work at REX and I've heard good things from the nurses. From what I hear Dr. Moran is not very personable. Dr. Enochs is much more then Dr. Moran. The OR manager I work with is going to do some investigating and find out more information.

Previously, I was looking into Dr. Kenneth Mitchell Jr. in Pinehurst. However I learned that his mortality rate is 4% and that kind of freaks me out.

I plan on attending the seminar next month.

Anyone who has any thoughts specifially on Dr. Enochs, let me know!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
