Still too tight ...I think???

Recommended Posts

Okay-

I posted before but only got one response- I really need some advice here people! I am filled at 9cc in a 10cc band, and I am REALLY struggling with eating. I was filled at 9.5cc but had .5 taken out thinking this would allow me to be able to eat decently with out getting sick afterwards. But I continue to get sick and slime and I have tried talkin with my dr about it but their advice was that I am eating too fast and too much, and they suggested I stay on liquids for as long as possible. I told them I did not get banded to stay on a liquid diet for the next year, my assumption going into this was that I would be abl to eat a small amount of food but feel fuller faster. I did not think I would be sick every day. So I took their advice, and still, even with eating only a 1/4th cup of food very slowly, with my diet consisting of mainly salad, eggs, Soup, and baked potatoes, I am still miserable. They dont seem to want me to get a deflate- but am I wrong in thinking that this needs to be my next move? Im thinking another cc would help majorly. From what I am reading most people on here seem to be filled under 6cc's although my first fill at 6.5 cc didnt quite cut it so I went up to 9.5 then to 9 which was probably way too much. Im thinking 8 will probably help me get to my sweet spot. Any thoughts? Oh by the way can anyone fill me in on what PB-ing is?

FRUSTRATED!!!

Amy I am new to this was only banded on June 6, but from everything I have read on all the different message boards you seem to have gotten large fills. I'd say your overfilled. PB's stands for productive burping meaning when you burp up food and slime because your too tight, ate too fast or too much.

I'd go back to your Doctor and show them your food diary and how you have been struggling, I understand being too tight for too long can also be dangerous in that it can cause slips and erosion can begin.

Best of Luck

Marilyn

It is quite common to be around 7ccs with a 10cc band. It is your body and you need to listen to it. I would definitely go down 1 cc and see how you do. You should be able to eat 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food, solids first. I would call your doctor and demand an unfill. Good luck and keep us posted.

I only have 4.5 in my 10 cc band, but I refuse to get too tight too quick for those EXACT SAME REASONS of yours (not being able to eat solids, re-gurgitating).

IMHO, I would MOST definitely have more removed until you can eat solid food. The doctor doesn't have a band. You are following the rules to perfection.

good luck

I was banded May 20, had my first fill on June 23, no restriction, so had a 2nd fill on June 30, I have lost about a lb a day since last Monday, I also can eat very little, probably not even a half cup total a day. I feel pain under my sternum from the first bite, a pressure sort of, it does go away but takes a little while. I'm not hungry, but guess I want to eat out of habit. Also, I worry about losing too fast, and not enough to sustain me. I was already anemic going in, and now, with so little food, I'll get worse, and then, there's that time of the month, that really pulls me down, and caused the anemia to begin with. I have a Realize band that holds 9cc's, I think I'm at 6 or 6.5 fill. I do have an appt on July 14, but I don't think I'll be asking for another fill for awhile.

You've got some good advice on here...the bottom line is your doctor works for you! Demand an unfill if that's what you feell is needed. You know your body better than anyone else. I'm so tired of reading about these medical professionals not listening to their patients. Even if your doc was banded, everyone is different. He gave you really aggressive fills in the first place. Most docs go a little slower and it's for this reason. Your shouldn't have to feel sick all the time.

If you are eating slow and chewing well but still suffering, it definitely sounds like you need a little unfill. It may not even need to be 1 full cc, maybe a half would be OK.

The point of the lapband is not to be on liquids or be unable to eat. You should be able to ingest solid Proteins without being miserable. I would definitely call your doctor again.

While an unfill seems like a very good idea, try some diferent foods - I've heard some people have problems with salads. (I haven't tried them yet.) I would try Protein Bars like the South Beach 10gram ones,, soft meats like turkey lunchmeat, sugar free pudding made with low fat milk.

Meanwhile, I agree, pursue a little unfill. You sound too tight.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
