I had my surgery on Thursday and returned to work on Monday. I was very weak and had no energy. It took me about two weeks to get my energy back and feel like my old self (probably because of the liquid diet).

I schedule my own hours so I worked short days the first week back. My advice to you is...if you have a very stressful or grueling job--it may be wise to take at least 1 week off if possible. But of course taking off the 1st year would probably be nice...and return slim & trim!!!!! LOL

I went back to my desk job a week after surgery. I found myself weak due to the liquid diet which I was still on at the time I went back to work. Therefore, I worked half days for a week, then gradually increased the work day hours back up to 8 hours over the next couple of weeks as I felt stronger.

Everyone is so different. Listen to your doctor and to your body. Best to you!

I had surgery Wednesday morning, spent the night in the hospital, and went back to work the following Monday. I missed three days of work. When I went back to my desk job, I worked for 10 hours each day due to a stressful, hands on project. Completely opposite of the other posters, I felt energized and not at all hungry on the post-op liquid diet. I think that the pre and post op liquid diet was easy to follow and I felt good.

Everyone is different, but it was pretty much a breeze for me and the best thing I have done for myself!

Good Luck!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
