Well, I went for my first consultation today and I got my date.....July 17th, two weeks from today! I'm gonna be a July Butterfly! I was so scared there would be some reason that the surgeon would say no, but now that he has said yes and set the date, I'm scared to death! I know I'm doing the right thing for my health, its just that I've never had surgery before so I guess you could say fear of the unknown. I've been on here for a month now and I have read almost everything I possibly can so I have ALOT more knowledge than I would have, so that gives me comfort and knowing I'm not alone is really nice. I'll definitely be on here as soon as I can after surgery to update (and of course I'll be on here religiously everyday until then). Thanks to everyone who shares their stories and experiences!

Congrats on getting your date!

Are you self pay or were you pre approved through your insurance?

I was approved through insurance.

Don't worry about anything. I have never had surgery before either until this band. I am a week out and have lost 19lbs with the 2 week pre-op diet and surgery. I have not regreted doing this for one minute, and I know you won't either. In a year, you will be soooo.... glad you did this.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
