I am not much of a cook either, so easy is the name of the game. I used applesauce, instant mashed potatoes with f/f gravy, refried Beans (pulverize some salsa in the blender or food processor, mix with refried beans, heat a portion in the microwave and put Kraft f/f cheese on top to melt--yum), instant oatmeal made a little runny with extra liquid, creamy egg salad (light mayo, a little dijon mustard, salt, pepper), creamy tuna salad (light mayo, a little yellow mustard, salt, pepper), Lipton noodle Soup (with just chicken broth, not pieces), Tomato Soup with f/f Kraft slices melted in it. There may have been a few other things, but I used a list the dietician gave me and pretty much stuck to that.

Buy a blender, with a few turns lots of things can become mushy. chicken can become chicken salad (you control what goes in it) I make this stuff that is just hamburger, carrots, potatos and onion, throw it in foil and into the oven for an hour, then put it in the blender for a spin. It is kind of like hash. Great way to get your Protein. i tried the Soup for a while but the protein just isn't there. I did start making my own Soups, like cheesburger and thick chicken wld rice but that border lines on cooking and you don't want to go there!! lol

sugar free lowfat milk pudding can get you over that beginning choc craving.

Canned chicken is a great starter food. You can add a little BBQ Sauce to flavor, also make a chicken salad (I use the Spinach Dip on the potato chip isle - tip from Georgia Girl), also honey mustard. I made sure I chopped it up fine in the food processor and it was a lot easier. No deboning - and used the white chicken. You can make a low fat egg salad as well. Being a southern gal, I love grits and add a slice of 2% cheese melted. It's yummy. You can buy the instant packets and they are about 100 cals a packet. I also ate Jello sugar free pudding for my Snacks (still do actually). Refried Beans (like the other's said) are good too.

I agree the faster and easier the better in the begining. I've started to buy only a few things to get ready for my surgery, not going to wild and crazy. Here are some of the things I added to my list (which I made by viewing all the posts on this site):

-individual applesauce

-kid size portions of juice boxes, yogurts etc.

-packaged oatmeal

-pre-made puddings and Jello cups

-oxo chicken/beef broth pouches (just add one to hot water)

-flavored Vitamin Water

-baby food (I got banana and sweet potato)

-instant potatoes

I figure this will cover me for the first few weeks then I can get around in the kitchen to make/puree stuff etc.

Have you ever used a crockpot?? It is sooooooo easy!! There is this great recipe I make....put two chicken breasts in the crockpot, add a jar of salsa, and a packet of taco seasoning mix. Stir. Set the crockpot to LOW and cook for 6 hours. When it is done the chicken is so tender you can shred it with a fork. Then add some low fat or ff sour cream and put through the blender!! It's really good.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
