Hi!

I am just wondering...

How do you flip or slip? Is this common?

If this happens will it be obvious? like what are the symptoms?

I'm just curious so many new things to learn about. I was banded on June 11th and I'm putting together info for my own personal reference.

Boy oh boy I thought this was going to be a breeze and I had so much info prior but everyday i learn something new. Its sooooo amazing!!

By flip I assume you mean the port. You will know if your port flipped when you go to get a fill; they will not be able to access it. It happens because it wasn't stitched down enough or a stitch came loose.

By slip, that would be the band. You would get acid reflux, nasea and/or vomiting. The band can slip if it wasn't placed correctly, if you don't follow your post-op diet properly while healing, if you consistently overeat or vomit too much.

Good Luck!

I agree with Jodi (still love the avatar girl!)...as for the Flip Symptoms and speaking from experience, it hurts when it is flipped, because it isn't placed correctly. The port digs into the muscle (because the raised part is now inverted). Normally it lies flat agains the muscle it is attached to. Also the pulling of the stitches hurts like hell...pardon my language, but that's the best way to describe it.

From what I understand and reading about people that have had slippages...sometimes they can be corrected by getting an unfill and going back on liquids for a couple of days. I've never personally experienced a slip, so I can't tell you what it feels like though.

I was told that if you slip you vomit, vomit and vomit. No matter how loose the band is...

I was also told that since I have the new AP band, if I were to slip, the could go in, unsnap it and replace the stomach where it needs to go and re-put the band back on.

For me that was reassuring that all my money wouldn't go to waste!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
