want to know more about lapband

Recommended Posts

Hi. I just found this website. I have not had the lapband surgery. I am seriously considering it though. I think I need to lose 68 pounds because my excess weight makes my high blood pressure and high chloresterol stay high. I've struggled with obesity for many years. I want to get the lapband but don't know much about it at all. I am here to talk with other people about the lapband. Side effects? ect... Thank you.

I started thinking about surgery 3 years ago, had it done 3/26/08, I'm very happy. But it's not a miracle, you still have to work hard to lose the weight. you have bad days, eat something bad and your stomache hurts like no other pain in the world, or you get gas pains that actually end up in your neck. I'm losing hair like crazy, lots of doc appts, It's not easy. But the surgery has given me hope. I never realized how much emotional eating I did, or eating out of boredom, that;s my biggest fight now.

Get this book Weight Loss Surgery with the Adjustable Gastric Band. It's at Borders. I'm half through & the best I've read. No mis-information. Each person is different, so are results. You will get out of it (the band) more than you put into it. Prepare to change your life. I have lost my morbid obeisty handle last week & am never going back. Hope you lose lots of pounds & blood pressure. My side effects from being banded on 1/15/08 are all positive. Down 115 pounds. From 4xl to 1x. For me it's mostly in my mind. The band is the best tool you can find. Hope this helps. Hasta Pronto, George

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
