Hi 1day. It's nice to hear from you again. I hope the restriction sticks. It seems the right level is a very, very fine line and one that can come and go.

Argh! I just typed up a long post and when I hit “send” the site decided to freeze up and send my response to never never land! I hate it when that happens! :)

Anyway, thanks for noticing the weight loss Shrinknme. I note every .5 lb down. I’d note even less if my scale measured it. :)

The weather in Houston was phenomenal today. It was a very cool and crisp fall day with virtually no humidity to speak of. The sun was blazing all day without a cloud in the sky. The only down side was that I was stuck in the office.

I’m debating whether I should get another fill. I’ve had 4 so far and my last fill was 3 weeks ago for a total of 4.5 cc in an 8 cc band. I can eat more at meals and experiencing hunger more frequently between meals. The reason I hesitate is that the first week after my last fill, I could only eat a couple of bites at a time but was still hungry. I stopped eating though because I had that tight feeling in my chest. I was very unhappy and tempted to turn to slider foods. I refrained for the most part. I thought once you get to your “sweet spot” the hunger pangs are supposed to go away. To date, that has not happened. My TOM is scheduled to visit this weekend so I think I’ll wait until after she leaves to see if I need another fill.

ya thats weird.. I get the grumblies too.. its like my top stomach feels full so my brain is not hungry but my bottom half hurts cause it wants food.. when this happened at first I didnt know what was happening.. then I was like .. oh ya my lower stomach is hungry. what they told me at the docs was when I dont lose 1-2lbs a week come back in for an adjustment.. so I dont know.. it scares me to be overfilled too.. I dont ever want to expierence the PB thing :)

Hello everyone! It has been awhile since I have posted, things have been busy, I have been working some super crazy hours at work (I got 108 in this last two weeks!) and school is taking every other free minute of my time. Hence the late posting.

I spent a while catching up on everyone, it looks like you are all doing good. I need to get back to checking in, it really helps me to keep on track sometimes.

Welcome Josh! You are absolutely amazing, and an inspiration. Keep up the good work!

I have finally hit onederland! :) WHOOOO HOOOO!! :) But now, I have kind of stalled out. I think part of it may be stress and/or lack of sleep, I am always exhausted. I am hoping with another fill, it will pick up again. I just think the last fill was a little too much. I was tight for weeks, I think it was about 4 weeks before the pain in my left shoulder went away. I think it is time for another one, but I feel like I just got comfortable again. I am just afraid if I wait too long, I will not be able to eat for the holidays and I don't have anything to tell my family since only my hubby knows about the surgery.

I have also been having ALOT of Hair loss. Has anyone else had this? The last two weeks or so I get hand-fulls in the shower and any time I try to brush my hair. I think I am getting enough Protein (I try for 60 grams/day) so I am thinking it may be my Multivitamin. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was going to go to GNC tomorrow or Thursday on my lunch break but because we cannot swallow the horse pill Vitamins, it really limits you. I am open to any suggestions if you can help!!!

My birthday is coming up next month (the big 30!) and I wanted to do something special, but I feel very self conscious about my hair now. I want to get back on track ASAP!

On the bright side, people at work are finally saying things to me about the weight loss and how good I look. I must say it really feels WONDERFUL! Since my own mother has not noticed! This is why only a few people know the truth. :w00t:

Well, it is nice to see everyone is doing well, keep up the good work!! I will try to keep up with the posts so they are not so lengthy next time!:)

If you can't stomach the children's chewables, I know I can't, One a Day makes Essentials. They are tiny red Vitamins that have only the essential vitamins in it. You can't buy them in the stores anymore, but you can find them online, but it isn't easy. They also make liquid vitamins for adults, I think Centrum puts it out. I just think back to the nasty vitamins I had to give my babies and shudder at the thought of it. (I edited and put the info on the essentials and a link to buy them below)

I have been fortunate to not have any significant Hair loss yet. I am so very thankful. Also, I have a LOT of hair, so hopefully, if it begins to fall out, it won't be too bad.

Congrats on finding a new job quickly and I hope they don't overwork you!!!!

I take a liquid pre-natal Vitamin or I take good ole' flintstones. I know they have many different kinds of kid Vitamins. Gummy bears and all sorts of kinds. I also still will take a protien shake now and then when I feel like I havent been able to get in my Protein for the day. and I found that quaker has granola bars with added protein.. and I think they are like 110 calories or something with 10 grams of protein..

have you all heard that even after you get some restriction or find the sweet spot that after you start losing weight you may need to get another fill because the fat around your stomach shrinks and there for the band loosens. I just heard this.

Welcome back New Mama and congrats on your phenomenal weight loss!!! :):w00t::)

It seems it happens to everyone at some point or the other. I've heard starting at about the 4th month and then tapering off after 6 months. I've also heard it grows back. Many here keep saying protein, Biotin, etc., but the consensus seems to be that NOTHING you do will stop the hair loss (related to weight loss and the stress it puts on the body). Once your body adjusts to the stress of losing weight, the hair stops falling out and as long as you aren't predisposed to baldness, it all comes back. I use a Centrum orange flavored chewable Multi-Vitamin which isn't bad at all. I can only find them at CVS.

I've heard it here and at my doctor's office. It makes perfect sense.

Hey donna, I just popped into chat and didn't see anyone. I have to leave in a little bit to go bring the children to the dentist. ugh:bored:

It appears they've changed the chat options again and taken away the option to create a room so I couldn't figure out how to create a July Butterflies room. It doesn't appear anyone's in the chit chat room so we can always use that room.

Anyway, I have an appointment so I need to run for now. CBL:tongue:

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
