New to PCOS and have some questions?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I am new to PCOS as of June 12th so I just started my meds (Metformin and spironolactone). Unlike some other fellow PCOS sisters I have a continous period it will stop maybe 1 week but be on for like 3 it is not heavy all the time, however everytime my husband and I have intercourse I bleed. Has anyone else had these issues? My periods have always been irregular and I have had many doctors yet this is the only doctor who has ever even mentioned PCOS, I was happy to be diagnosed to finally understand why I am infertile (we have been trying for 10 yrs with 2 miscarriages and 1 eptopic in 2004) and I finally have my problem answered! I was just curious however about the period issue.I also have my first doctor visit on July 10 for the Lap-Band. Well thanks for listening I hope someone can help!

I too have PCOS, but stopped getting my period. If you haven't already, you should "google" PCOS and read all about it. There is a wide spectrum of symptoms that go along with it. I have all the aweful ones- darkening of the skin, skin tags, weight gain etc... I take the same meds as you've been prescribed. Expect to feel a bit on the nauseated side. I felt like I was car sick for about 3 weeks- YUK!

I think I've had it for a long time, but was just diagnosed last summer and that was when I made my final decision for WLS. I am extremely frightened of getting diabetes and heart disease.

I wish you the best of luck with your journey. Keep us posted!

check out soulcysters.com. I was diagnosed with pcos 10 years ago and it was my lifeline. I am new to this site and have decided to get banded to loose weight and be healthy. I had no periods and used IUI to get my twins (now 19 months old). I am ready to tackle weight and problems with pcos now.

Hi liltweety! Finally another PCOSer like me! I also have very long irregular periods. It seems like I almost always have light bleeding, once every month or so it will get heavier for a few days. Sometimes it stops for a week or so. I noticed the bleeding lasts longer and becomes more irregular the heavier I am. Seems like most women have no/rare periods. I have had 2 m/c, so like you I get pregnant, I just can't stay that way . There are many reasons I want to lose weight, but my last m/c made me decide that it is time for me to pursue Lap band. The time has come for drastic action! No more lose 30(feel great) gain back 40 (feel like a failure). I feel like with the band as my tool I can finally lose a significant amount of weight and not constantly worry about when I will gain it back. I believe that when I achieve a healthy weight I will be able to carry a healthy pregnancy! If you would like to compare PCOS notes in more detail feel free to private message me. Good luck to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
