when did you feel restriction?

Recommended Posts

I feel really fortunate! I was banded on May 5 and my doc put 2 cc in a 10cc band. I felt pretty restricted I think. But about week 5 and 6 or 6 and 7 I started grazing. I couldn't eat a lot at one time of most things but I was increasing my food intake. (ironically I lost more weight during that time.) I had my first real appt with my nutritionist and nurse last week. I discussed food choices and some changes I needed to make and they gave me 2 cc fill. I definately can feel it. I can always drink a lot. That is normal as far as I know. But I cannot eat much and things I was eating before do not sit well now. I have thrown up more but not violent and not in huge amounts...just learning that I have to stop at that first small burp and not when I want to stop. I go back in three weeks and I am not sure what they will do. But I am losing a lot more right now. I have lost 34 pounds and I am happy with that.

I realized that most American doctors only add a few cc's at a time which means it could take months to get a restricted band. I had an entire month right after surgery where I didn't lose any weight because I was still eating pretty normally. I ended up going to a doctor in Mexico who explained what happens sometimes with American doctors. He quickly and easily filled the band to proper restriction with just one fill! He explained that there was no reason for me to not be properly restricted after only one fill. I have had no problems adjusting to the restriction, and it has helped me get on with my weight loss!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
