I haven't ran since Wednesday! I sure do miss it, but my knee is not ready. I am going to hold off on running until I hear from my doctor Friday and maybe do some swimming until then.

Renewed~ Good for you! I'm glad you are listening to your body. Don't worry about having to repeat. I know you will work up to the 25 minutes. If anyone can do it, you can!!

Leslie~ I'm glad you got some new shoes. It really does make a world of difference when you have a good pair. I really like my Nike Shox.

Hi everyone. I am Jeannie and have been lurking on here for quite a while. I have been working on week one for a couplke of weeks now, so i guess it is time to move to week two. (Leslie, I'll see you tomorrow!! Are you going to week three?) My question is have any of you actually put this trainign into action and done a 5k? I am going to do one in Novemebr and am a little worried I may not be ready. ANY input would be appreciated. Thanks yall!

Hey Jeannie! I'm glad you posted. Hopefully my knee will clear up soon so I can get back in gear training for our 5K in November. I think we will be ready, even if we had to walk some it, that's okay. I'm really excited about it!!

Good luck with week 2!!

Georgia

I am so excited about November. I am sure we will do great if we have to walk it will be ok, I am sure we will not be the only ones. I just realized that the 5K will be two days after my one year bandiversary! I could not have even dreamed of doing a 5k last year, my band is awesome!!!

Jeannie!!! Hey girl...I'll see you tomorrow. I may be a little late. We are signing up a business for a 401(k) at 4:30 and I have to go to do the paperwork (about 40 people). I'm hoping to be to the gym by 6:00 but looking at a more realistic 7:00. I'll call you tomorrow :-)

I'm excited too about the 5k in November. Are we still doing the one mile next month? I downloaded the entry forms - I'm excited to go meet Georgia again (on her home turf) :-). I'll bring the forms then too.

I think I'm repeating week two again. I haven't been as consistant this week as I'd like. I don't feel ready for week three yet. J - are you moving forwards to week 2?

Jeannie - Welcome - Yes, some of us are getting ready to do a 5k in the upcoming months. Myself and a retired teacher friend plan to run/walk a 5k in early September.

I should be on week 6, but a few weeks ago I had EVLT (Endo Venous Laser Treatment - for varicose veins) so it put me behind. I think I am going to start back on week 4 in the morning. I have ran several times since I have had my surgery, but just not intervals. So week 4, here we go.

How are my scale challenge buddies doing? It will be a week tomorrow.

I am doing suprisingly well. That is not to say I won't break tomorrow. I actually did a 1 week scale challenge last week. That about drove me crazy, but I made it through. So this week has been good, but we have three more to go.

Hey run buddies, I am home. I figured out why the emotion low>>> surprise (shhh girls only..I started my period) It explains alot.

I am home from vacation and ready to kick week 4 day 2 to the gutter!! Tomorrow after work, I am going straight to the gym.

I am hanging in there without my scales; but what if...... OK OK, I can do it until Thursday at my offical post op appointment.

I am so glad to know that by my November 5K run, I will be thinner and physically prepared to run it.

OK, Off to bed.

I have still not weighed, but man do I want to. I am going to hold out!! Can you believe it has only been 1 week. I feel like I am losing, and I was thinking I must have lost a bunch by now, and then I realized it has only been 1 week. Feels like much longer!! We can do this! I don't go back to the doctor until the 2nd, so no sneak peeks for me....

Glad you are home safe and sound Lyn. TOM definately makes me emotional. I didn't have regular periods for about 10 years prior to being banded, but I have these last 6 or 7 months. I had forgotten how irritating PMS and the whole TOM thing is. It comes way too often.

EEe Gads!! I almost feel like I am starting over. I did Week 4 and did not finish it, close, but no cigar. I thought with me still running some I would do okay when I started back on the program. I guess not doing intervals for the last two weeks really put me behind. Oh well, it will get better.

Thanks for the link SugarBean - I read it. It looks like I bought the right shoe for my foot type. I have a normal to high arch.

Although I didn't join in the no weigh challenge - I can't wait a whole month to weigh. It would drive me crazy! However, It has been two weeks since I stepped on a scale. I even put my scale at home in the top of my closet - so I couldn't be tempted. I'm waiting until Thursday to weigh and can't wait! I'm hoping for a good number. TOM is almost here - weird, I lose the most then and am the tightest...praying for a good number.

It sounds like a lot of us are doing 5K's in November. Cool!

Georgia, Jeannie and I are on November 8th. When is everyone else's 5K?

I am planning on doing one on Sept 6th. YIKES!!! A retired teacher friend and I plan to do it together. That is only 4 weeks away. I struggled with week 4 this morning. If I am lucky, I will be on week 7 at that time. So I expect to walk some of it. If I can get that 20 minute run in, I will feel much better about doing the 5k in September. I wish is were later in the month, but you gotta do it when there is one in this small town.

I am missing my scales too! I can't believe I have lasted this long. It's probably a good thing I'm not weighing because I had a weekend of bad food choices. I am back on track today and ready to get busy!

Okay, I found something online for swimming. It's kinda like the couch to 5k but for swimming. I thought I would post it for those who like to swim on off running days. Whosya said swimming was an excellent exercise to do on off running day since it is completely opposite of running. It looks pretty hard but I may give it try.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
