Any advice?

pepermint tea.

i've had to have 3 unfills, and in the "waiting" time - pepermint tea relaxed my band & allowed for at least Soups & soft food to get in. it' also settles my belly.

hope your feeling better soon & your symptoms die down...

Leslie and Georgia. WTG!!! You guys did great. Georgia under 40 minutes and Leslie and extra 2 miles. I am sure you are thinking about goals for your next race.

Kathy - I hope all goes well with calming down your band. I think the tea will probably help. Warm liquids may open it up a little. I sometimes have trouble eating in the morning. I think others do to.

I had my fill on Friday, I can feel restriction. YEAH! I have already lost a few pounds on liquid. We will see how it goes from here.

My DH and I took our DS and 4 of his friends to Dollywood in Tennessee. I felt like a kid again. The last time I was there my DS and I got on a ride and I could not fit.:rolleyes2: This time I could fit in every ride. :laugh:Crazy me even rode an upside down roller coaster for the first time :D(and maybe the last) LOL. When we left to go to the parking lot there was a huge line for the tram car to take you back to the parking lot. I asked the lady about how far it was to Section C. She said about a mile. So we decided to walk. I took off running with all the boys. We had such a good time. I could have never done any of this last year. I love my band!!

Luluc... thanks for the suggestion. It did help a bit at lunch today.

Sugar... great NSV! I love to hear everyones NSV's. Afterall, it isn't the scale that we did this for... its the real life changes. Glad the fill is working!

Whosya... thanks for popping in. Hope the training is going well!

Ok, so the strange thing with my fill is that I can eat food (very small amounts) but liquid seems to back up and not pass. For example, I had chicken Soup with broccoli. I ate about 1/2 cup of food, and drank some peppermint tea. It all went down, slowly, but it did pass. dinner I had a small bowl of chili. Then I had some Water, and then some tea, and it all came back up... more than an hour later... it just wouldn't pass. This is very strange.

Well, I'm out of town for a few days, so will talk to you on Tues. Good luck everyone!

Kathy - what does your doc tell you your diet should be after a fill? I am on liquids for 3-5 days then soft foods. Building up as tolerated. I think chili and chicken & broccoli Soup would be to much.

Kathy - have a great trip! My band is fickle at times too...it's crazy.

Whosya - hey there stranger - glad to hear you are still alive and kicking

Sugar that is awesome! I love Dollywood. We went a couple of years ago - which of course I was miserable and couldn't ride because I was so big. I am so happy for you :-)

Hey buddies!

I found it hard to get going today. I ended up running for 25 minutes, but it was hard today. Not sure why, but my right foot is bothering me a little today.

Sugar~ I used to tell people that my stomach couldn't handle roller coasters because I knew I couldn't fit in them. I haven't tried the ride any since losing weight. I know I would probably fit, but there's a little voice in the back of my mind saying "you're still too big". What a great feeling that must have been for you!

Hi All,

I started training this weekend, running 1 minute and walking 1.5 minuties for 30 minutes and I love it! The breaks are just what I need and the focus on the clock makes the time go fast. Also, getting out the door for a half hour workout is somehow mentally better than saying "I am going walking for an hour." I was actually moving for more like 35-40 minutes and I thinkt he distance was a little over 2 miles. I just wonder if I will ever get fast enough to go 5K in 30 min?? I guess we will see.

I set up a training routine that is 4 days a week (Sat, Sun, Tues and Thursday). I am a busy mom who also works full time out of the home and this is all I can commit to for now.

Thanks for the support and good luck to all.

WTG mominflorida!! Don't worry about your time or speed right now. You need to start out slow and work up later. Focus on getting your endurance up first. You're doing great!! Keep up the good work!!

Hello all,

Newcomer to this thread here  I'm really impressed with all the terrific stories I've been reading, and I'd really like to get in on some of this great training. I've been trying to change up my exercise, my weight loss has really slowed down. Currently, I'm able to do 5k (3.2 miles) on my treadmill, but I seem to be really slow yet - I move at a speed of 3.5, and it takes me about 50 minutes to complete the 5k. If I try to push it faster, I really get wore out before I can complete the 5K. Anyone have any suggestions on increasing my speed, or where I should go from here? I've looked over the exercise plan, and I'm just not sure where I should start at this point. I'd love to get that 5k in under 40 minutes at least.

How fast is jogging? At 3.5, am I still just walking fast?

Is there a difference between doing the 5K outside, or on the treadmill?

And lastly - how do I become a member of LITE?

I apologize for all the questions! I've read most but not all of this thread. If anyone has the time to give this newcomer some advice, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Congratz to all of you on how far you've come! Your stories are inspirational

Welcome Rhapsody. You are a member of LITE, just by exercising and posting with us.

I am not the one to ask for advice on running. I started about the time that Georgia and Leslie did and had varicose vein surgery and other treatments (I had one today) that have slowed me down on C25K. Also, a busy soccer season. I look forward to getting back into running.

Leslie - Dollywood has grown so much over the last few years. Saturday was the first day of their Christmas season. We rode the train after dark, all the lights made is so beautiful. Dollywood is about a 4 hour drive for us. How far of a drive is it for you and Georgia? Wouldn't it be cool to meet there in the Spring.

Georgia - I am 5'6" and weight 207 and carry most of my weight in my stomach. I fit very comfortably in all the rides.

Hi everyone... Yeah! Relief! By the time i got up this morning I knew I was in trouble. I had thrown up everything, including water... so nothing was passing. So I decided to go back to the doctor this morning rather than go to my meetings. I called my boss to tell her I'd be late, and she was ok with it. The nurse took out .25 cc and then made me drink 4 cups of Water before leaving to ensure I could. Then when I got to the meeting, it was lunch time, so I had a bowl of pumpkin Soup. It all went down... first food that's stayed down since Sun at lunch.

Apparently, it can take upwards of 24-36 hours for your stomach to swell after a fill, so that's why I could eat a little on Sat/Sun but nothing else after that. Now that I've gotten some liquid in, my headache is disapating! Ohh that was rough, and I must admit I was a bit scared.

Sugar, my doc's rules are liquids on the day of the fill and then eat normally the next day. So I was following the rules. I was just too tight!

Well... back to the meeting!

Welcome to the newbies!

Kathy - I am glad you are doing better. My docs rules are liquids for 3-5 days and then soft for a few days etc.. It seems that every doctor is different.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
