Lap Band not working

Recommended Posts

My lap band works great at Breakfast, pretty well at lunch and by dinner its like I don't even have one. I've got a 10 cc band and I've got about 5 cc's of Fluid in the band. I'm going for another fill next week. I had my surgery 6 months ago and I've only lost 30 lbs. Its great when it works but my self control when its not working is lousy. That's why I got the band in the first place. Has anyone else had this experience?

Well, I think your weight loss is just fine. Not as fast as some, but faster than others, so don't worry. I know what you mean about the band feeler tighter in the morning and looser by dinner. It sounds like you're doing the right thing by talking to your doc about a fill. That's probably exactly what you need. I experienced restriction in my 10cc band with 5.5 cc in it to, but maybe it's time to bump it up to 6!

Congrats on your weight loss!

My problem is that it has been 6 months since I had my surgery

and I only have 5.5 cc's as of today and I haven't lost any. I

was wondering how many cc's everybody else gets when they

go for a fill, my doctor will only give .5 cc's at each fill so it

is taking way too long to lose!ken

My Doc told me that it is swelling from the night before that gives people better restriction in the AM. And as we lose the excess Water we lose some restriction, too. If you don't fee like you have enough restriction then you probably don't. I'm at 7.5cc in a 9 cc band and even tho I have restriction I don't feel like I have enough. Would be nice to have more

A slight fill would probably help. In regards to your WL, you do realize that you're averaging about 5lbs a month, right?! That's great! I hear a lot of people say they can't eat right away in the AM but they have great restriction during the rest of the day. That may be where you end up. Best wishes!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
