This time next week I'll be in pre-op.

I'm really getting nervous!

Will I feel band and port inside me every minute?

Will I ever do the whole circuit at Curves again?

Will I gurgle when I drink ~ and will everyone in the room hear it?

I can feel the port if I press around and feel for it, i couldnt at first but now that Ive lost over 60 pounds there is less fat covering up the port.

Forget curves baby.......lots of us are now running and some are training for marathons and triathalons........I m sure anything Curves has to offer will be a breeze!

If i drink too fast it seems to create some kind of air bubble and I feel like burping, I probably have a weird expression on my face when it happens. When I take sips like I am supposed to....no problems.

Good luck on this fabulous journey

You are going to do fantastically

Thanks Michee!

Still excited and nervous! Curves Lady recommended I take a month off and just walk the dogs while I wait for my Dr's blessing to resume the resistance exercises.

Woo hoo, gas pain - here I come! :tt2:

Funny, walking my crazy energetic dog is more of a workout than one would think!!

I recently bought a leash that goes around my waist. (and it fits with the belt on the middle hole) so that I can run with my dog.

I took a month off from the gym too, just to make sure everything was healed. Check out mapmyrun.com you can design a good dog walking route from your house or wherever. I started with a 3.5k route post surgery.

Good luck. You are gonna do great.

PS buy the gasx strips that dissolve in your mouth, they help with the gas pains.

The only time I can feel the band is when I eat too fast or take too large a bite. Then it kind of gives you a "warning hurt" that you learn to pay attention to really fast. I can feel my port if I press down on it but it doesn't bother me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
