Why do I feel like this all the time?

Recommended Posts

Please, please can anyone help me? I have been to 3 doctors & nobody can help. My problem is that my stomach ALWAYS hurts. I was banded May 8 & have 1 fill but no restriction at all. I eat as I did b/4. I eat the same things as I did b/4 too just not as much because it makes my stomach hurt worse. (I haven't lost any weight since the week after surgery either) The pain isn't due to any type of blockage or is it a nauseous pain but like I've been kicked in the gut & lots of gas.

Does anyone think it's due to me eating the same stuff I did b/4 surgery? It doesn't seem to matter what I eat since the pain is always there. Any suggestions would help since I'm starting to freak out. This might not have anything to do with the band but I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem.

Thanks in advance...

Leslie

I live on Gas-X. I have tried walking somewhat but I usually feel too bad to walk any distance. I might try it again though, thanks for reminding me. The doctors just want to give me meds that don't work. I will probably have to have a CT scan done if it doesn't clear up.

Thanks!

Have the Drs. checked your gallbladder? I know that someone has probably told you this before and that you most likely know, but just because you CAN eat what you did before doesn't mean that you should. I know that people often say that the band should do all of the work for them but you really need to begin eating healthy (maybe you do) and set yourself to a reasonable caloric intake of 800-1200 calories a day. I can't say anything about exercise because I can't seem to get myself motivated to exercise to the extent that I need to be but it has really helped me to put myself on a Protein first, low calorie diet per my Drs. instruction.

It would concern me greatly if I was having the pain that you are describing this far out from surgery. I don't have any digestive pain unless I eat too fast. If I take it slow and eat healthy foods I have no gas or nausea. I really hope that things get better for you and that you get some answers. It's awful to not know what's wrong. I had an ongoing battle with my Drs. regarding my gallbladder. They insisted that there was nothing wrong as I didn't have any stones. However, when they did a HIDA scan they were able to determine that my gallbladder was only functioning at a 3% capacity. I had terrible stomach pain, gas, diarrhea, and this tightening in my stomach, chest and back that was unbearable.

I was banded in Dec. of 2007 and I had the same problems until around April 2008. My stomach hurt for months and I went to the doctor about 5 times before someone was able to help me. I have a spastic colon or irritable bowel syndrome. I was first diagnosed in 1998. There are many symptoms of having irritable bowel syndrome. I produce a lot of gas in my intestines and in my stomach. Since I have been banded, I am still producing a lot of gas in my stomach but now the gas is getting trapped. To make matters worse, some people who have irritable bowel syndrome are EXTREMELY sensitive to artificial sweeteners thus producing even more gas. I am one of those people. My stomach can't tolerate any type of artificial sweeteners. One doctor told me to stay from them for 1-2 weeks and see what happens. After about 3-4 days my stomach pains went away. Talk to your doctor about. I don't know if you use artificial sweeteners but stay away from them for a few days and see how your stomach responds. I know it sounds crazy but it has helped me. There is a link between excess gas and artificial sweeteners. I'm sorry to make this post so long but I understand how you feel and I hope this helps. Wishing you all the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
