More things I won't miss about being fat.

Recommended Posts

I saw this thread awhile ago and loved it and have started a list of my own.

Things I won't miss about being fat.

1. Never finding a towel big enough to go all the way around me and tuck in the front. It always looks so cute when my skinny friends do it!

2. Constantly pulling down my shirt to try and hide my big, low-riding tummy. Who do I think I'm fooling?

3. Cringing or running everytime someone pulls out a camera.

4. Always checking the room to confirm my worst nightmare...I'm the fattest one in the room.

5. All the junk food wrappers in my bedside table!

What things won't you miss about being fat?

Wendy

ps I'm getting banded in Mexico in 5 more days. It's gonna be great.

You know you can get bath sheets that are huge right? We have them and I love them, wrap them around and still have plenty at the ends

Oh god, Dawn, do I relate!

Also, I travel a lot for work, so I won't miss:

1) Getting on the airplane and feeling like I need to apologize to everyone for taking up so much space.

2) Sitting on the airplane and feeling like I'm spilling over into and crushing my seat mates to death.

3) Seeing the worry and fear in people's eyes as I approach their seat, and always, ALWAYS interpreting that as fear and worry that they will be the seat mate I am crushing under my massive size.

4) Worrying about whether or not the seat belt will fit without an extender.

5) Not being able to join my work colleagues in the hot tub or pool after a long day.

6) Not being able to wear those cute little black dresses and strappy heels that other women wear to our cocktail parties and fancy dinners.

7) Giving speeches and presentations where I feel like people are not focused on what I'm saying and the value I give to the organization, but instead, thinking about how grossly overweight and uncomfortable I am.

and more, I'm sure. Now I'm depressed thinking about it. Gotta get on a plane for a 4-day fancy shindig in Colorado tomorrow...:grouphug:

I love this post!!!!! Everyone has something to add which is all the more motivating.

Here are some things I wont miss about being fat:

1 - People asking me if I am pregnant

2 - Everyone assuming I can eat half the buffet, and the sneers and under the breath comments as I approach a buffet

3 - Snarky comments from my in-laws

4 - Not being able to shave my legs in the tub without pulling something

5 - Getting winded from climbing a flight of stairs

6 - Obsessing about what and where I am going to eat next

There are so many to list !!

I won't missing going shopping, thinking I have something that might fit ok and trying it on in the dressing room and then, seeing there is no way it is going to fit me in a flattering way.

Going shopping in certain stores and seeing that the biggest size they have is one size below what I need.

Traveling abroad and feeling as though you are the heaviest person in the country, not just the room. Actually it is kind of sad coming back in that I can blend in easily and not be the heaviest here. There is a huge difference in body size here as compared to many countries abroad. Obesity has become such an epidemic here that eventhough you notice how overweight you are, other people just blend in to the background.

I won't miss:

Being/or feeling like I'm the heaviest person at any function

Trying to find something or anything pretty to wear to any function

Being the fattest mom among my kids friends

Always wearing a jacket (as if it can hide that fact that I'm fat)

Wearing those ugly long granny dresses that they sell in plus size stores

Wearing granny panties - I can't wait to buy my first sexy thong

Always being on the bottom when making love to dh. Looking to be more agile, flexible and moveable

Shopping in plus sized stores

Not being able to sit in a booth

Being heavier than my dh

I'll add to my list as other things come to me. I love this. There is hope at the end of this journey

I like these threads, they let me vent a little:

1. Not fitting into booths

2. Not fitting into seats at the movies

3. Being scared I'll run into someone I know when I go out somewhere

4. Not wanting to leave the house

5. Shopping at Layne Bryant and discovering their largest shirts STILL don't fit

6. Looking around every time I enter a room to see if I'm the fattest one there

7. Having people make comments about my weight...that are really nasty but they hide it behind "I'm trying to help you"

8. Being paranoid that everyone is judging me due to my weight

9. Cutting off friendships because I'm ashamed of the weight I've gained

10. That place UNDER your belly...

11. Dreading shaving my own legs

12. People thinking I'm older then I am

13. Not believing my husband when he tells me I'm beautiful

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
