Okay, I am now going on my 4th day of a new "bander". I am doing the liquid diet, but I am still hungry all the time. How important is it really, to stick to the "liquid" diet. Has anyone moved on to soft foods early? :confused2:

congrats on being banded. I was banded on 6/17, I'm not hungry all the time, but I can't wait til I can start chewing food again. I know everyone has a diffrent menu to follow, mine is a week of Clear Liquids, a week of full liquids, 2 weeks of puree'd food ( or as the dietician said just buy baby food). then 2 weeks of soft foods then on the 7th week I can start reg food. So I wouldn't beable to skip to soft foods. If I were to do anything it would be pureed.< /p>

I was banded June 12th and i am supposed to do two week liquids then two week pureed!! Yea ive totally screwed myself and im kicking myself in the butt because of this. I am already eating whole food, chewing like forever, its totally liquidified before i swallow, but still i have no self control. Please someone yell at me!! My mom and boyfriend get on me so much, but im so stubborn it makes me do it more. If someone would please just tell me how dangerous it is and how i could really mess my band up i might get a lil more scared and thats what i need right now!! I am able to eat anything so far! Never got stuck, dont feel very much restriction either!! Im really dissapointed. if i dont stop soon, im gonna gain all the weight i lost pre-band! Please someone help me!! i need support, and someone to be mean and scare the heck out of me!! Thanks!! lol Elizabeth

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
