A friend yelling at me at a bar saying DON'T EAT THAT!

Recommended Posts

OK What would you do. SO we are out for my bday last week and we are at a local bar with some friends from work, my brother, hubby and brothers GF. Had a cocktail, getting hungry and ask if anyone wants to split something. So Nikki and I order these killer french fries, which I knew I would only have a few but that was cool with me, it was my bday right?

Well, this girl we all work with knows how much i love these fries, and everytime I went for a bite, she's yelling across the bar, "Stop don't do it! It's b/c i love you!" HA HA HA! Mind you we all were drinking and you know how that can get, but seriosly I wanted to slap the shit out of her! What would you all have done? There's alcohol involved, I work closley with her and I was just in shock! I kinda laughed it off, and was like stop it, stop it...... How embarrassing! I wanted to die! How would she like it if everytime she lit up a cigarette I ripped it from her mouth and said, "It's cuz I love you!" I swear if this shit happens again, don't know what I'll do! How can I handle this stupidity?????? It would be different if I didn't work with her, but I don't want things to be weird, KWIM?

You know regardless of nworking together this type of response seems to happen a lot with over weight people. I work in a resteraunt , where I bring my own lunch, I have had customers come over to the break area and tell me I should be eating a salad, meanwhile I am sitting there eating a piece of grilled chicken.

The most embarrasing is when you are ordering a meal and the waitress gives you a look like why are you ordering this.....

If it was me and this situation happened again I would just say I am an adult and I am concious of what I am doing. I do appreciate your concern but I have it under control. If this doesn't work, simply tell her , that her behavior makes you feel ridiculed and embarrased.

Hopefully she will get the hint.

Good luck:thumbup:

slapped the shit out of her and say t was the alcohol! Just kiddng....I did have to read this twice because couldn't understand for the life of me why your husband had a GF.....anyway...'i'd probably blow it to ignorance and then address it with her at work that you don't need the diet police calling you out in public places......That's just me though....

I would yell out "If you loved me, you'd STFU" and then laugh HA HA like she did.

This is EXACTLY why I don't want people at work to know about my surgery. There is something about the work environment that makes people think they can behave like this and, usually, because you don't want to make a fuss or be the bad guy, they get away with it. It's happen to me before when I've lost a lot and I don't want to have it happen again.

This is why I have kept knowledge of my surgery to a very select few family and friends. I don't need the scrutiny, judgment or BS!! SS

I would confront her at work and say,

"If you EVER embarrass me like that again, I will KNOCK the shit out of you, and when you pick your skinny ass up off the floor I'll say, "That was because I love you!"

This is the reason I keep my big mouth shut and not tell anyone I am about to have surgery. Just when I think I feel like I want to tell a co-worker, I read something like this and then I say to myself "I'm glad I haven't told anyone." For some reason, co-workers always want to be the food police. It's just not right!

That is my ONE regret of the surgery, telling people! There are some heavier girls at work that were looking into it too b/c I was, and we were all going to do it together. Well, I'm the only one who went through with it, the other two chickened out. So it got around, and man oh man do i regret how it went down. Oh well, cat's out of the bag now, now it's just time to set everyone straight, b/c they are really dumb and insensitive !

I would have walked over and said, Thanks, but I can eat what I want and I want a few fries. I don't need you saying a damn thing. You don't see me stopping your booze fest, do you?

I would let her know that her behavior wasn't acceptable even if there was alcohol. This is why I cordial with coworkers but have never show up at functions I was invited too.

hahaha, I was thinking this, too! My reponse would be, as she goes for every sip, "Don't drink that!! You know how you get [insert knowing nod here]; it's because I love you! HAHAHA"

I would talk to her about it. Tell her it was NOT appreciated and WILL NOT be tolerated again. You are an adult and therefore can make choices about what you will or will not put in your mouth. Thank her for her concern but tell her it will NOT happen again.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
