Does anyone else get UTI's when they have sex?

Recommended Posts

This has always been a problem for me. I have been on a low dose of an anti biotic for a long time because I was getting them all the time, even when I was not sexually active. I take Cranberry capsules and do everything I am told. I am SICK of it!

Hi,

They call that "honeymoon cystitis"!

One way of avoiding them is urinating immediately following sexual activity. This helps flush out any bacteria that have entered the urinary tract. It really does work.

I recently got one after my first long bicycle ride of the season! Go figure!

Good luck.

mica,

you ride? you should check out the cycling thread on here in the fitness forum.

We talking riding all the time. Not so much UTI's...but we'd discuss them if they came up.

Yeah, I run and go potty as fast as I can. It sure ruins the mood. The cranberry capsules seem to make a big difference too. I may switch to 3 x a day instead of twice.

UTI's are miserable! I am lucky my band dr. got me used to drinking 64 oz of Water per day too. I need to stay flushed.

Okay boys, I hope you're having a good time reading this!

I was told (and I think it helps) to urinate right BEFORE as well as right after the sex. Try doing both & see if that helps. Although you may not be able to pee a whole lot right after sex since you went before, I am always able to do a little bit.

I usually try to drink a glass of Water right before so I will have something to pee. I will try going before too. I think I usually do anyway, cause it's not fun on a full bladder.:smile2:

No but really, I try to do what Fairy was saying and go before and after. 'specially since my guy likes to do some g-spot stuff every now and again and it makes me feel like I need to pee!! I know TMI, but its the girls room!!

Never had a UTI in my life, but - strange, after sex? I wonder why.

Wheetsin, its my understanding that a lot of bacteria gets tossed around during that time. Then the bacteria cause the infection.

What she said. I don't know if my UTI's (which were frequent years ago) were sex related, I think my doctor indicated it was. I blamed dirty husband fingers (that's important, make him wash his hands!!), and sex in general with all the bacteria moving from the outside to inside.

If you are using sugar-substances for anything fun down there, don't. That also causes yeast infections/UTI's. Never go from the pooper to the pink! Make sure any toys are sterilized between each use.

Those are some sex reasons I've heard UTI's happen.

I had this problem a few years back. I started keeping a box of baby wipes under my sink and just have a pee and then give a little wipe and then I'm good.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
