How many calories are you eating?

Recommended Posts

Just curious to see how many you guys are consuming for weight loss - I am at 800-1000 and the scale isn't moving!

What is a typical menu?

I am usually having:

B - 1 scrambled egg w/ half slice of LF cheese, 1/2 cup of blueberries and half slice of whole grain "small-loaf" toast.

S - 1 cup of 1% milk

L - 1 cup tuna salad made w/ LF mayo, celery, onions, salt and pepper and other half of whole grain toast

S - Activia yogurt and almonds

D - Grilled tilapia and brown rice made w/ chicken broth and steamed green Beans

I occasionaly have a treat - only IF I am under my 800 calories for the day! And I am walking 20-30 minutes at least 3 times a day...what are you guys doing?

I did not know it would be this hard.:)

I was banded on June 4th. I don't count calories - I count grams of Protein, fat and carbs. The high Protein diet helps curb my hunger. So, basically 90 percent of my meals are protein - some of it will be in the form of liquid Protein vials like New whey or a shake. I also eat quite a bit of diary products like cottage cheese. I am kind of surprised you can eat toast. Whenever I have a meal, I am not to drink during it. Doing this will keep your stomach fuller and for a longer period. I also must consume 48-64 ounces of Water a day.

If I had to guess how many calories I consume, I would say about 800-1000. There is a type of chemial reaction that occurs with a high protein diet so that you can lose faster. Your body has to consume its own fat as protein cannot be stored by the body. At this time, I am losing about one pound a day. Of course that will change at some point.

Hopefully you have a nutritionist that you are working with. If not, I think I would ask for one.

Your patience will be rewarded.

I don't think I'm getting in enough calories. Of course, I hate to admit but I am not good about eating. I pretty well live off of one whole egg a day and cottage cheese out the ying yang. (It's been WAAAAAAY over 100 here lately and I cannot fathom turning on the stove for ANYTHING.) I noticed since I started eating like this my weightloss has stalled out big time. UGH.

I typically keep the calories between 700-800 a day and then every 3-4 days I will bump it up to 1000-1200 (generally ends up being a weekend day in there somewhere). I am also doing the Couch to 5K every other day and try to walk in between. I have not experienced the 1-pound-a-day loss that kansas has (lucky dog!) but I am losing slowly but surely. I also notice I have been losing inches more consistently than pounds.

How is your Water intake Lexy? I don't generally get in 64 ounces but I do try to at least get half of that. Try checking some measurements. It could be that you are losing inches and not pounds right now. I keep waiting to wake up one morning down 10 pounds. :P

Also, I do keep track of my calories/exercise on the daily plate. I LOVE it!

Hang in there!

Jennifer,

I don't keep a food chart although I had to do it before the surgery. Maybe I should. I have a lot of weight to lose and that may be why it is burning off so fast. I don't expect this to keep up but when it stops I will have to focus on increasing my metabolism - exercising. I am not doing much of that right now as I have asthma and it starts to act up with a lot of exercise and I don't want to start a coughing spell. I will have less trouble with my asthma as my weight goes down - I have pounds setting on my chest right now and that doesn't allow for a full expansion of my lungs. I am just getting over the anesthesia - my asthma really acted up. Doc says about two weeks before I get my breathing back. Asthma is one of my co-morbidities. I have shortness of breath all the time so I really needed this surgery for my health.

I really don't know why the weight is coming off so fast as all I have done is followed my nutritionists "rules." I am not going to complain. I have heard that if you don't eat enough "calories," your body will think you are in starvation and slow down your metabolism. We all have quite efficient bodies - the idea is really to trick the body. I think the high Protein diet does that quite well. I fully expect to hit plateaus but right now I am just going with the flow.

I also take 2 Multivitamins, 2 Calcium tablets and one B complex each day at different times. I suspect the B complex may be keeping my metabolism up and running.

I haven't really been counting calories nor was I really counting my Protein grams. Needless to say I've been pretty much around the same weight since my initial weight loss. I started again keeping track of my calories and Protein intake. I also started excercising for at least 30min at least 3x's per week. I go for my first fill on 7/3 and I want to have some kind of information so that I can ask my dr. for any advice if needed.

I am not too worried since I know I am still in healing mode and before the first fill I don't think you are expected to have too much of a weight loss.

Yet, I am honing in on my diet skills so that I will be able to be successful

in the long run!

Good Luck to all....we can do this!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
