Hello. I was banded on May 14th. I've lost 15 lbs. since the surgery. The weight loss is slower then I expected. I was under the impression that the weight would melt very fast but not for me. Im told slow and steady wins the race.

When was the last time you lost 15 pounds in a month? It may seem slow, but that is very fast actually. That is over 3 pounds a week! The average loss is 1-2 pounds a week. Be patient. You are doing great.

Dean, where did you get the impression the weight would come off fast? 14 pounds in a month is fantastic results - that's 3.5 pounds a week. Realistically bansters should lose 2 pounds a week - which is a healthy range.

Slow and steady is exactly how you should be losing.

Hi Dean, I was banded May 15th and I had my first fill today. I lost 10 pounds since surgery and the nurse said that was very good! She said a lot of patients don't lose anything in the first month and some even gain. So don't worry about it, you're doing great.

We're all anxious to lose the weight fast but it's really not healthy to lose it too fast. You're on a new journey and the weight WILL come off!

I know what you mean. Realistically I knew that the weight would come off slowly...which is why I chose this route but I still wanted it to come off faster! I was banded two days after you were and I have lost 18 pounds. However, I've only lost 3lbs in the last 2 weeks. I KNOW that this is wonderful as it would have taken me six months to take off 18lbs pre-banding and is more than I have been able to lose in 7 years.

I just saw my Dr. on Monday and he said that I was doing wonderful but advised me to drop from 1200 calories a day to 800 calories a day if I could do it. I haven't been able to get down to 800 but have been able to reduce my caloric intake to 900 calories. I go for my first fill on June 27 and hope to speed up my weightloss after that.

I do know what my problem is; I haven't been very successful at exercising and it's getting me pretty down. Why can't I get off my ass and walk? I did start swimming the other day now that our pool is open but there is something about me (LAZY) that just can't get it together in the exercise department.

Do you feel that you are losing inches? Some of my pants are super baggy while others just feel a bit loose. I know that you'll do well...just stay with it.

One of the other members (justlosingme?) suggested that I switch up my daily caloric intake...900 one day, 1000 another, and 1200 another day. I've been doing this and it seems to be working. I woke up with 1lb. lost today!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
