First fill and doctor cancelled on me :(

Recommended Posts

I have had an appt for my first fill for 7 weeks now and I have counted the days down since I am in bandster hell.

Well this morning I was so excited I packed up clothes that were easy to pull down from the port, the numbing creme they gave me, and a cover to put on my stomach for the cream... I am so set!

I took the last couple hours of work off too so I could make the appt.

I get to work and theres a voicemail from the doctors office saying they are sorry that my doctor wont be in today and neither will his partner... I needed to reschedule for the the 30th  How sad is that?

I definetly let them know the inconvenience and dissapointment this has caused me. I paid for this appt ahead of time and they postpone it for their convenience.

I can really sympathize with you brandy. I know you must be feeling very frustrated. I hope you get a good explanation as to why they canceled your appointment at the last minute.

A couple of years ago, my son had to get a mole removed from the bottom of his foot. We canceled a planned weekend trip because he was supposed to be recuperating. I had to give him Benedryl to help calm his nerves and make him sleepy. I also had him prepared for the shot in his foot with numbing lotion. Drove him across town to the dermatologist. We signed in, and then the receptionist said, oops, sorry, the Dr had to leave for a personal emergency. Staring me in the face was their big sign that said there was a $50 charge for cancellations with less than 24 hour notice.

Good point I should request a cancellation fee

That would be hysterical. I'd love to see someone do that.

Just wanted to say that I really feel for you. I know how frustrated you must feel. My first fill almost went like yours. I was the doctor's first appointment that day and I was so excited because I was truly living in bandster hell by that point. After I had checked in, the nurse informs me that the doctor is still in surgery and will be there as soon as possible. So I thought, "okay, he's going to be late but it's worth it to just wait for him rather than reschedule." Well, he ended up being 3 hours late! And I still waited for him because I thought, "at least I'll get my fill today and won't have to wait to reschedule." But I was hopping mad because I could've done something better with my time than waiting for him to get out of surgery.

So I can only imagine how upset you are that you wasted your time AND didn't get the fill AND have to wait until the 30th. They should open early or stay late for patients like you that they have to reschedule. It just seems ridiculous that you have to wait so long for your rescheduled appointment.

Hang in there!

What a bummer. They should at least be able to schedule you a little earlier than the 30th considering they cancelled on you. Perhaps you can call them back and ask to be put on a cancellation/waiting list.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
