My surgery was on this past Monday, when should I partake on full activity. Right now, I joined a gym, yesterday, and today, I took advantage of the treadmill, I could only do 15 mins, before I started feeling faint and tired. So I stopped. I figured that was all I could do for the day. Im going to try it again tomorrow. Should I be doing more? Or should I follow what my body is telling me? I dont want to over do it. So what should I be doing at this point? What am I able to do? What about riding the bicycle there? What equipment should I stay away from?

TAKE YOUR TIME. Yes, listent to your body right now. Healing is your number one goal. Not losing weight and sprinting. You'll get there. Congrats on your surgery and be gentle with yourself. Lots of changes happening. Be observant and tune in to your body. Do exactly what your doctor tells you. Even if you don't agree, or feel like you can. 15 minutes of walking is fine a few days after surgery. You need it to move the gas in your stomach, but don't overexert yourself. 15 minute walk several times a day will be helpful.

I was told by my doc to not resume exercise until 4 weeks out. I was told just walking is allowed before that. So it sounds like your doing fine.

Congratulations for starting so soon after surgery! I haven't had surgery yet, so I couldn't tell you with any authority... but I think it's awesome that you are so motivated!!!

I just talked to my doc about surgery, for the first time. It's something that I have been thinking about for a long time. We're starting the process. :cool2: So, maybe, someday you can tell me all about the process.:)

This is a question you should really ask your bariatric nurse or surgeon. What I was told was no resistance training (weights) for 6 weeks, but to walk. I walked in my neighborhood for a few days until I could drive, then started back at the park where I like to walk. They have a path that is 2 miles. I went every day going around once until I felt comfortable to do a second time which is 4 miles. They have cleared me for weights, but I enjoy the park so much I have be doing that. The closest thing to weight lifting I am doing is the bag of peanuts I carry to feed the squirrels.

You may be pushing yourself a little. Let your body tell you when you are ready for more. The treadmill should be fine at a walking pace. Distance and consistency are more important than how many machines you use. I don't walk particulary fast, and if a lot of squirrels show up for peanuts I stop a lot. I was banded 3/25/08 (Tues) and was at the park by the following Sunday (as soon as I could drive). I try to walk every day, unless there are thunder storms.

Thanks guys, I really listened to my body today, cause, once that 15 mins was up I was ready to nap. LOL. Plus Im still on my pain meds. My crazy cat landed on my stomach earlier, and it was the only spot hurting, other than that I have been tapering off with the meds cause the pain isn't as bad as it was before. I am so glad I have this site, cause without you guys I wouldnt know what Im doing. Just like the little bits of grilled cheese I ate last night. I didnt eat a lot and I chew and chewed, until it was liquid, still it was a big no no, and I learned from that. Thanks to all of you. Now I know what I should do with the exercising part. I want to do this right, and for once in my life, Im going to follow through with it. I want to be thinner, and healthier. Not to remain fat. Thanks for all the support and advice.

My Dr. said no lifting anything over 5 lbs for 6 weeks, including a purse. No excersize for 8 weeks. Walking is ok. And no intercourse for 6 weeks.

Take it easy. Walk as you can. Keep hydrated & make sure you are getting enough Protein. My Dr. says 90 grams a day, you have to work up to it.

Don't rush it, you will do great!!!:)

I would love to walk outside, however, here in NC, its about 105 degrees, and I just said that I couldnt do it here, and just to get a membership. I got a great deal. But I would love to walk outside, just a good change of scenery.

Youre right about pushing myself, I think after 10 mins, I was ready to stop. But I kept up until 15 mins. I felt so drained.

My doctor said to follow your body signs and dont rush into things crazy. 3 weeks to heal, no more than 10 pounds, which is the equivlant of a gallon of milk.. [which i try to follow very closely]. Also I asked about intercourse and he said use judgement, don't do any crazy positions, but it's up to me whether I fell up to it...All went well.

Mostly depends on the person.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
