March Bandsters How Many Fills ?

Recommended Posts

I had my third fill 9/8/08. I am now up to 5.2. My doc told me that is tight and to be careful. So far no problems. I was able to eat refried Beans (fat free) yesterday. This morning felt restricted after trying to drink some Water. May have been too cold. So I heated up some apple juice and it went down fine. It's hard to tell so soon after a fill though, I will probably find out if I am where I need to in the next couple of days.

I have had 3 fills in a 10cc band. Band date was March 13. My doc only gives me 1/2 cc per fill. Looks like most everyone else here gets way more than that. It seems to work though. I have lost 60 lbs.

I have had 2 fills. We passed on the last visit because I seem to blessed with a lose of 1lb./week. Next appointment is this month, I think the week after T-giving, and will do the 3rd fill then.

I had my 3rd fill this past Friday. I got 1 1/4 cc fill so I have 6 1/4 cc in a 14 cc band. I was ready for this one. I was hungry all the time. I have been on liquids only. So far so good.

I have had over 10 fills and wasn't anywhere near my correct fill. I am currently unfilled due to the stomach flu. Having fun with it and can eat pretty much whatever. Going back in to start my refills this week. My relationship with food has not changed, and I need to start therapy soon. I feel like a dry drunk when I don't eat. I am also very discouraged with the amount of weight I have lost. 35lbs and banded March 25th. I thought I would be down more by now and feel I have been doing all the correct things to keep my weight down. I am very discouraged. On the positive side, I have not gained any weight, which I know was a problem before the band. I probably need to start really really exercising, but was hoping to see the band do more of the work. As of now, the scale won't budge. So hopefully these refills will get me going in the right direction. Good luck to everyone.

Chubbychecker (yes still chubby)

- Banded March 25th 2008

- 121lbs altogether

- 35 lost-85 to go.

I have lost track of the number of fills i have had, but i haven't had a fill bigger than like 0.3 cc in quite a while. It's amazing how that makes a difference these days. Right now i am in need of another fill, but i have been traveling for business so i have put it off a little. I am definitely enjoying the ease of maintaining my weight, but i still have about 20 lbs to go so i have to get it in gear. This is that hard part where you like the way you look so it gets easier to be a little lax about eating, but i want to get to goal and that means a little more work. For me this whole band journey is about maintenance. I've lost weight before, but never kept it off and so far i like what i see on the maintenance front. It's been like 8 months and i haven't fallen off the wagon and i credit the band for that. It turns what could have been BIG slips into little mistakes that barely register. I do love my band, even if i do try to out smart it every now and then!

Well, it has been 1 week since I have had my 3rd fill. I have more restriction than I have ever had!!! After surgery I had some restriction and after the 1st and 2nd fill gave me a little more restriction. Of course, restriction leaves after you lose some weight. I know will power has had alot to do with the amount of weight I have lost. If there is a "sweet spot", I have found it. I am not hungry and I can eat my portions without trouble. If I listen to my body and my brain, I know when it is time to stop eating.

I am 2 pounds away from losing 100 pounds and 7 away from Onderland!!! I could have never done this wiithout the band.

i've lost count of my fills too. i'm now up to about 8.2 ccs in a 14cc band. i'm going in for another fill this thursday and planning to ask for .5 or .75 more.

haven't felt much restriction in a couple of weeks. let me just say, that made thanksgiving a bit problematic. luckily there's a gym in my apt bldg and i worked out for about 90 minutes that day. still, i'm sure i ate more calories than i burned. i'm trying not to stress out about it too much. i know i'm not always going to make the best choices, but i'm smarter than i used to be and i'm in this for the long haul. a day's indulgence isn't the end of the world. still, i've got to make sure the day was an anomaly and not the norm.

I just had a fill of .5 cc to add to my others and my total number of fills is in my signature info. This last adjustment has really made a difference - I'm having to eat small quantities but then eat more frequently - like 6 small meals/snacks total, to get all my nourishment in.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
