Which was worse, C-section or Lapband surgey?

Recommended Posts

I am curious. I am reading everyone’s bogs about pain, gas, nausea, etc...and I am beginning to wonder if this surgery is worse or comparable to having a c-section. I KNOW...we are talking about two completely different body parts, however, I had 2 c-sections 14 months apart and I tell ya after that second c-section, I never thought I would ever feel right again. I am kind of a nervous when it comes to pain, so I am just trying to relate this band lapsurgery to something..

C-sections were much worse...Had babies to take care of to boot! A lot of gas but it subsides after a few days get up an walk as much as you can.

I've had 5 abdominal surgeries. This one was a cake walk by comparision. I checked into the surgery center at 6p and checked out by 2pm

Good luck!

Oh, my gosh... the C-Section was WAY WORSE! I've also had two, but they were 12 and 16 years ago. I'm telling you the lap band is a breeze compared to child birth!!! No worries...

c-section - mind you, I didnt think that was bad either.

The worst thing about the lapband was the weakness/fainting I kept getting on about day 4 from having no food. Pain from the surgery and gas were minimal for me, I wasnt hungry at all but the lack of energy from the tiny intake held me back. I did all I could to get carbs and calories in and felt loads better from there.

There is no comparison as far as I am concerned. I was in terrible pain after my c sections. I had my lap band surgery on Fri and went back to work on Mon. I have a desk job, but it only felt like I had done a few sit ups, with a little bit of muscle pain.

WOW! C-section was a lot worse, although not too bad for me. The lapband was very easy for me. I was more worried about the anesthesia, but I woke up at the calling of my name and was not sleepy again. I had NO gas pains and very little post-op pain. I did bruise pretty badly, but who sees that except me?

Good luck and think positive. I think if you put all that fear and uncertainty out there it will come back at you.

I'm the minority. I've had 3 c-sections...they were entirely different but I wouldn't call them easier. This was hard b/c now my "babies" are preschoolers and require alot more physically from me. Also, all childbirth surgeries I had family fly in to help me and I was on my own.

I delivered 3 10 pound babies vaginally. My 8 pound premmie was a C/S. The lap band surgery was nothing compared to any of my birth experiences.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
