What's the first thing you ate after you were "officially" allowed to eat again?

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about the first thing I would like to eat after the band and after the liquid and mushie stage - and I'm thinking it's going to be jelly lol only because it's soft and tastes good and I figure it won't hurt going down that or I might try some potato bake or something along those lines - something soft that I only need to have 2 mouthfulls and I can feel the effect. So what was the first thing you ate?

CHILI!?! Didn't that hurt going down? I'm not banded yet so I obviously have no first-hand experience!

I plan on having 'Portebello Pizza',,a recipe that is on my Doc's website,,,Involves cooked spinach, basic soft pizza toppings atop a portebello mushroom as crust. I would have had this pre~band!!!

Hmmm... jelly (and yogurt) was on my list for the full liquids stage and potato bakes were on my mushie list - as given by the doctor. What do you see as "after the liquid and mushie stage"?

My first "real" food, i.e. not Soups, not pureed, just "normal" food was grilled chicken, boiled potato (a tiny baby one) and steamed veges. I kind of phased my "mushies" slowly into "soft foods", without much of a distinction though. I ate quite a few slow-cooked casseroles that would have been "normal" food and counted them as mushies in the later stages of that phase.

7_4_12.gifMexican Lasagna :tt1:from Little Rose's Cantina.. It is a very busy place and the 3 times I went there before LB I could'nt wait 45min - 1 hr. I tried going at off times and that is bad when you can't get in at 30 min. in off times. I told my kids that when I can eat again that I was treating them all as long as someone orders the lasagna so I can have a couple of bites!:)

I had loaded potato Soup when I started my full liquids phase. It was heavenly:drool:. I just ate the creamy part, none of the potato chunks or bacon. I couldn't finish the bowl, so I took the leftover home and had it for 2 more meals.

I picked up some stuffed flounder from the grocery and baked it at home with a side of green Beans. It was wonderful. The flounder was stuffed with crab and tiny shrimp. The 1 piece actually made 2 meals for me.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
