Recommended Posts

I have been so out of control this last week I can't stand myself. I stopped going onthe tread mill, I am eating chocolate and I am eating the wrong foods and way too much. I hate this!! Can I get back on track?????

Bigmom you can do it. It is a vicious cycle when we start on the junk food it just spirals. I have battled the demon with chocolate and when I do I make bad choices for days. Purger yourself from the sugar. Drink lots of watertomorrow, no sugar, no carbs getyourprotein in. Protein curbs the appetite and supresses the bad cravings. Carbs crave carbs and sugar craves sugar, the more you eat of those the more you want. I have been where you are trust me, I went back to basics. Protein first, lots of Water. Tomorrow is a new day. Do not beat yourself up about it, you know what to do, its a matter of doing it, you can do this!

It is so hard to get back on track when you take a few days off! Michelle said it best, just start all over and get those demons out of your system.

You can do it, today is a new day! :)

If you start your day eating bad, then it seems to make the whole day a waste.

So, adding to Michelle & Betty, start fresh this morning (or tomorrow morning) this way we use the overnight fast to our advantage!

Thats the wonderful thing about this band, everyday is a new day!

I also find that when I keep my regular schedule of eating/water intake I do better. Its when unexpected events happen that break my schedule that everything goes to pot. For instance, the other day my mom & sister came over with lunch - I wasnt that hungry, but I ate anyway... broke my schedule & ate crap the rest of the day.

Good luck & remember, we ALL have bad days/times!

It's going to be okay. Don't be so hard on yourself. We developed so many bad habits over the years, it takes a while (forever?) to rid ourselves of them. We've all been where you're at and we continue to be successful. And guess what? You will be too!

Just pick yourself up, look in the mirror and tell yourself today is the start of your road to success. We're here for you. Good luck!

Yes.. you can get back on track.

When I would blow my diet, it was usually like this.. I pick up a piece of chocolate..shove it in my mouth, grin, love it, savor it. Then when its done I feel guilty and I figure ive already blown it, so one more can't hurt. I pick up another...rinse, wash, repeat. Then I feel even worse, and I continue to make bad food choices. Heres the thing..if you make one mistake, just keep trying. Don't punish yourself, but don't allow yourself to keep going either. You don't have to completely give up what you like to eat, but you do have to monitor it.

Just remember, you worked hard to get this band. Wether you paid out of pocket, or had to talk your insurance company into it, this is something you wanted and you need to treat it well. Its a tool, its there... use it! =)

I tend to avoid exercise because I hate it. The only thing I can think of to counteract this, is to make the exercise fun again. I play my favorite music, lock myself in my bedroom and have a little "me" time while pampering myself with a fun exercise video such as "bellydancing" or something like that. Its something I grow to look forward to.

Remember though, no matter how many times you fail you are NOT a failure. You can pick right up and do it again. Don't allow yourself to excuse the behavior as in "well I had one, so I may as well have another" Just realize you did it once, and move on.

Were here for you as well. It helps to have support.

I can totally relate. I had a car accident in December and ever since then I have been in physical therapy and recovery. I quit doing my Water aerobics but resumed last week, I lived on comfort foods for the past 4 months. I wonder why I wasn't loosing...For the past week I ate correctly, rejoined my water aerobics and was rewarded a 5 lb loss! Horrrayyy! I lost more in one week than the entire last 4 months! Kind of one of those "ah-hah" moments... Anyway don't give up. When your ready you will regroup. Best wishes, Teresa

Good idea to check about the fill, Bigmom. How long ago was your surgery? If you haven't had your first fill yet, you may be in the dreaded bandster no-man's-land: well past the loss of appetite and swelling that helps some of us lose a lot of weight right after banding, but without any real help from the band, because it's loose and flaccid (i.e., unfilled). It's not that you "fell off the wagon"; you've been forced to rely on sheer willpower recently, and trust me, all of us know exactly how that usually goes. Good luck with the doctor. Meanwhile, know that what you're going through is totally normal.

Well, I had my first fill today. My surgery was Jan 18 and up until a week ago I was doing fine and lost 47lbs in total by the dr. told me I was due for t he fill and now I am back to square one with the eating only liquids for a few days then mush etc... I hope tht I can get back on the wagon today was only liquid but I think I am too scared to even try anything else yet I am terrified of PB or worse.

Once again thanks for all the words of encouragement it really did help you all are a GREAT GANG!

Bigmom, be careful, cause I've had fills kick in 2 weeks out! but by the 30th you should be sure. How much of a fill did you get? I'm getting one Thursday A.M. in TJ, my daughter's getting banded the next day by Dr. Ortiz. I can't believe it's finally here!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
