Saw my doc today and im on mushy food 2weeks and a day after being banded. He went to feel for the port which is right above my jeans area and he said it was deep. Anyone hear of this ? Is this gonna be an issue for my fills? Also after he was poking and pushing i started to feel some discomfort in the area for the rest of the day.

Im kinda worried about the port being low by wear my jeans come up also. Anyone else with that problem?

My Dr. told me I had a deep port as well. As I was told, it's good in that it reduces the chance that the port will be visible down the road when you've lost a lot of weight. I was pretty sore too when my Dr. was initially feeling for the port.

Your fills shouldn't be a problem if your Dr. knows what he or she is doing. I ultimately had my first two under fluoro so he could determine exactly where the port was and how it was laying. I've only been poked with that fill needle once per fill--not like some who come out feeling like a pin cushion. If you ever feel that way--request the fluoroscopy. It's better to be safe than being poked a bunch of times and risk puncturing a hole in your tubing.

Okay, so can you have a shallow port? Because today, I just began to be able to really feel my port. Ususally, I had to poke around and some days it is deep and some days it is easier to find, but today I really feel it. My surgeon has no advice, he says it's in place and hasn't slipped or anything like that.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
