Just banded YESTERDAY and in HORRIBLE pain!

Recommended Posts

try a 'cough' pillow for the times that you need to move, cough or sneeze that hurts the actual incisions. putting pressure on them with a small, firm pillow (try a flat sheet folded and taped, it's great!) if this is where the most of your pain is: better to use an outside method than to fill yourself with drugs and still hurt. i believe i was prescribed lortab with both my surgeries, but only used them sparingly the first couple of days. sleeping/getting off the bed from a flat position was the hardest thing i encountered. all of this will pass, hopefully by the end of the week you'll be a new person.. walk, walk, walk, drink, drink, drink.. those are the best forms of relief yet. Good luck !!

I hope things are going better for you today! Welcome to bandland, it only gets better as the days go by. I was one of the lucky ones I guess, no pain. Walking will help a lot!

Hello Trooper,

I got prescribed the same thing but I must say mine worked for me. I only took the stuff for about 2 days cause I wanted to see really how sore I was. I was sore but I toughed it out except at nite I would take some just so I would get some sleep, I woke up every time I had to move and then had problems getting back to sleep. Leatha gave you one of the most best advices, use a small pillow to place over your stomach for getting up, coughing or laughing it works great. Try to walk that will help you too in the healing process. Stay strong it will get better.

Ouch, Im really sorry your having so much pain. Remember, if your doctor wont listen, make him/her listen. Don't take no for an answer..this is your body.

I had little to no pain..well at least comparitively..after passing kidney stones, having blood poisoning, losing a finger (but I got it back!) ect I have a rather high pain tolerance. Are you sure its not gas?

I was prescribed supradol. It was in pill form, but rather small and easy to take. It worked, but I only used it for the day after and the next day.

Good luck! I hope you feel better. and welcome to Bandlandia (as vines called it)

:)

Hey!

Today was a lot better... I finally was able to get some sleep with my new meds (before today, I had only gotten a few hours of sleep since Tuesday), so I spent the whole day sleeping.

The lortab is actually upsetting my stomach a bit, and I started throwing up this morning. I've realized that I need to split my dosage in half and drink some tea before, during, and after sipping the lortab.

But, all in all, I'm feeling a lot better! =)

Thanks for all the advice! =)

<3 Lisa

Hi Starbright, my banding was smooth as silk. The worst pain I had was from menstral cramps. My DH only had some swelling issue, but no real pain.

I was on morphine drip in the hospital and had the option in thehospital for liquid lortabb and also sent home with liquid lortabb. I was informed to use the lortabb even when I wasnt hurting because its a drug that is more effective when its built up in your system instead of just used on the spot.

Wow, it's amazing how different we all are. I didn't have any pain to speak of, didn't need the pain meds, didn't even need the Tylenol, but my doctor did give me a prescription, just in case. I did take a half of one the 1st night at home just to make sure I slept good, it worked too.

Try the walking and the Gas-x. I had the Gas-x on hand, but didn't need that either.

Good luck, hope the walking helps.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
