Anyone go to St. Johns?

Recommended Posts

Was wondering if anyone has gone thru St. John's for their lapband or know anything about their program? I've been looking at their website, and they look very qualified.

About a year and a half ago, I was looking into the lapband, and with the 12 month 'diet' I made it 9-10 months with merida, but it lost it effectiveness, and I had decided on Dr. Deol, and you all know know what happend there~so here I am again, about 20 pounds heavier even!

I've been reading lots of your recent posts, but haven't seen any about St. John.

Nice to be back! And now the BCBS has lightened up, I am ready to go again!

Shelby ~ Not sure what side of town you are on. But I went through the Royal Beaumont Weight Control Center and Dr. Krause did my surgery. I would highly recommend the center all the staff and doctors are great. They offer various lectures, cooking classes, etc. too. Good Luck.

Shelby, I was banded June 10th @ St. John hosp. My experience was awesome!!! Dr. Hawasli is the best by far. I did my research with a couple different doctors at SJH. I am only 4 days post surgery and I feel great!!! I would highly recommend Dr. Hawasli.:)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
