Lippo around the port on your abdomen

Recommended Posts

I am 6 weeks tt post op. My doctor didn't remove enough fat on my abdomen so I will be going in for a tt revision in 6 months. It will be lippo only. He is concerned about my port. Did anyone else have these concerns. What was the work around?

Julie: This seems like a good question for Dr. Schulman since he specializes in body conturing after massive weight loss. Maybe you should pose the quesiton directly to him. I would be curious what he has to say.

liposuction around the port can be done, if done carfully. Your PS should be prepared to change the port if it is damaged in the process - or have someone available that can do it right away. This is not common. If it is damaged, it will likely be the tubing to the port and can be fixed without having to do anything with the band itself.

I find that another good solution is to remove the port, do the liposuction without having to worry, then replace it with a low profile. This would involve a small incision over the port (which will not be any larger than your laparoscopic access port)

Dr. Schulman: What about Lipo on the upper stomach? I don't know my anatomy well enough to know if the actual band around the stomach could be bothered by lipo?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
