First problem...

Recommended Posts

Drew,

Could it be that your brother is just concerned about you and doesn't quite know how to express that? I think that might be the case.

Sure he didn't choose the most endearing way to say this, but he, I'm almost positive wanted to let you know that he cares about you and what you are going through.

Try to remember though that you are going through this journey for you and no one else. Maybe you can remind him of this next time you see him and especially if he tries to rekindle that last conversation.

Unfortunately your brother may just be jealous. As much as I'm sure he loves you, you're going to be changing and that may not be sitting too well with him.

People don't like it when we change. We're familiar and comfortable and if we change, we may change our opinions and perceptions of them.

I'm sure once your brother sees your hardwork in losing weight - eating right and exercising, he'll change his tune. Some people just need to be educated.

Hang in there. You're off to a good start!

I agree that your bro seems to be both a little jealous and maybe his reaction to you doing something about your weight problem, forces him to address the issues he has with his own weight.

It is not easy to decide who to share you feelings with. And to take a backlash from your brother, makes it even harder to handle. Remember why this is important to you, and try to let all of the negative stuff roll off your shoulders. You are very lucky to have a great family to support your decision and stick up for you when your brother started on your case.

Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
