Good Afternoon

Well Lori - we don't have Apples junking up the thread - I've been busy.. You haven't posted much either nor has Charlene,... I think life gets in the way sometime - You know those times when you go go go and then the time when you got nothing to do come here and no ones here ;0)..

Sandy - to me cuban food is similar to Mexican food never had braizlen - gut to me it's sorta all the same - just a twist - no diff than eating something in the south TX vs TN - you got kanasa city bbq - you got tenn bbq - all american food - with diff variation

Eva - Sorry about the drains ugh going to hate to see that bill - Glad you all had a good time at your FNSC.. Poor Glimmer... Hope he's better today..

Laura - We can't shoot snow birds - Phyl is a snow bird LOL but I know what you mean - love the summer time when all the tourist are gone.

WTG on the cup cakes !!!! You are learning ;0) ...

Well - got all my shopping done - Menu for tonite - cheese (reg) /Crackers (lite) - Guacamole & whole grain chips - Wine & strawberry/lime margaritas - Dinner- Fish - Asparagus - salad - Rice - Dessert - Fresh fruit bowl - with a side of greek yogurt/cream cheese pudding..

Went to costco - got a new set of pot's and pan's - I needed them since half the time I am burning up mine cuz I am on the computer and forget about my food cooking - I don't think they were to healthy for me to be cooking in - so at least tonite Dassi can be assured that my pots & pans are Kosher LOL..

Cheri - Yep life is precious.. Did you watch that show heavy - well the guy on Monday's show looked a little like my bro Michael who died in 08 - my bro wasn't 600 but got close to 300 - I sat there and cried..

Well think I need to go fold clothes while they are warm - cbl

Hi Janet! Just read your posts. Yep, I'm in that sandwich again.....Gkids and a parent. I will tend to her tomorrow. She agreed to let me take out some of her furniture like the glass top table....it is not safe. I wanted it out before she returned to her appartment. Now she says she is not an invalid.....she will get around to getting things done. UGH! She is so stubborn. My DS wants to let her have time. My sister is also somewhat of a hoarder. She wants the time to pack up my mom's stuff and take it home. Enough of my family drama.

I love those Marathon snicker bars. The have 20 grams of Protein. I only eat have at a time. And they don't have those sugar acohols that give you gas.

I'll check in tomorrow.

Good Evening to All...MIA lots lately but in the vacation mode and even when we are not busy, we are just enjoying hanging out on the porch and sucking up the nice weather.

Had a great time meeting Eva's friends last night. Nice ppl and just plain fun. FIL called about noon today and stated he was on the way. Made for a nice day. Was able to get some cooking done for him while him and DH were out and about. He had lunch with us and then stayed for coffee and Cookies and took off b/4 dark. (he's 87 and had to drive about 45 minutes). He's so cute and is a walking encyclopedia.

Janet, Phyll, Jodi and Dazzi...hope you all had a great time together.

Time for bed. Going to be out and about with DH tomorrow. Going to take in some sights. You all have a great weekend.

Good Morning Gang.

Had a wonderful time with Jodi , Dassi (such a beautiful little girl) Phyl & Earl.... dinner was great - but we never got to dessert ;0) Jodi got here around 6:30 ish I guess - we chatted and I cooked the salmon she brought - Dassi played with the dogs - I think we were all so full and ate a little late so dessert just didn't cross our minds., Everyone left around 10 - Jodi going to San Diego today to the Animal Safari place.. Have pictures - but to early to post them ;0)

Dogs got me up 5:45 to potty - then Bella is scooting - had poop stuck in her hair so at 6 a.m. before coffee - I'm cleaning butts... Wonderful way to get up !!! Not !!! You gotta understand she hate a bath - wiggles like a caged animal - but got the job done ;0).. Now having my coffee

Charlene - Hugs on being in that sandwich - My Aunt fell on her glass table and it broke - lucky she didn't get cut - so yes it's a good idea especially if she's having balance problems

Apples - Understand vacation mode ;0) ... We all were talking about the computer last nite - you get on it and then next thing you know 2 hrs is gone and you haven't gotten anything done - Well I already had load in dryer - load in wash - so at least I have started - now lets see if I finish ;0)

Eva How bad was the plumber?? How's glimmer this morning..

Janet - I am doing well just plugging away. I have been a little naughty with food this week. We are all going out for dinner for my Birthday which was the 17th and my Mom's which was the 19th. She never lets me forget I was her painful present. LOL I am close to both my parents so she loves to mess with me. Today will be the first day we take my Nephew to a resturant, he is now 8 weeks old I believe. He was born on 12/1 since he is not mine I can never remember how many weeks he is. I am so glad with my son I get to count years. Anyways back to my food I plan on buying more friendly food today and be back on track with the Protein I guess with the taste of sweets on my Bday that is all I have wanted. I will have all my new medications for my diabetes by Tuesday they moved me over to more traditional meds which are all generic so the pharmacy had to order them. I can do this and this will be my year I just have to get the junk out of my head and body. And add more exercise besides the running I do at work.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday.

Good morning everyone. No, Janet, computer thermometer says it's 9 degrees (above zero) right now. But, I didn't sit around afterall yesterday.

Have a clothing store in our little mall that had a 75% off sale that I had stopped in one night and got a few things. So after I got my house cleaned yesterday I decided to check it out. Well, parking was full and I had to park by Penny's so went in through Penny's and was stopped dead by signs of $2.97 shirts -- and 80% off sale signs. Never did make it out of that store!! They had long sleeved thin cotton tee (my favorites) for $2.97 -- originally $38.00 -- so guess who bought a ton of those? Then they had some sweaters at 80% off, I got 4 at $6.95 I think. Then I went over to the Jr. dept. and found a pair of size 11 junior black denim for $7.50!!! Tried them on -- fit perfectly -- I haven't lost weight, but have lost inches this year and that's my proof!! My receipt showed I saved $440 and only spent $120. I ended up with 3 pairs of jeans, 4 sweaters and 8 tees. Even my DH said he wouldn't have passed up those bargains either. So that's my NSV for this month -- being able to take advantage of those types of sales. So I was soooo glad I ventured out in the cold -- I arrived there shortly after they opened, and they had just put everything out, so I had a great selection of colors, etc. Katie returned home yesterday -- she said they released her which I don't believe -- I think she probably signed herself out -- she claims she's had no "food" for a week -- only intravenous Fluid -- so why would they ever let her out? Anyway, her brother was staying with her and Aylah so we took advantage of that and ended up driving to our casino for crab/prime rib dinner. DH needed his cigarettes too. So I ate crab and a few bites of prime rib. Played quarter poker machines and I hit 4 of a kind twice and DH hit four 2's so we ended up coming home with all the money we took plus a few extra bucks after paying for dinner, gas and 4 cartons of DH's cigarettes. We got there at 3:30 -- gambled until 4:15 -- had dinner and drove the hour and 10 mins. home and were back by 7:30 -- that's the secret to gambling -- just play until you hit and then walk away with $$. LOL. It works for us. With my lapband card my meal was only $8 -- DH paid $20 so I'm also a cheap date.

Laura, good going on throwing away the cupcakes -- it's tough with a little one around. Of course you don't want to deny him - so that's a great plan. Do they still sell Jiffy cake mixes? They would make a lot fewer cupcakes I think - I remember they used to be like 39 cents. LOL. Haven't priced them recently. I saw a woman on Paula Deen one day who owns a cupcake bakery in Savannah -- and she made some cupcakes and then scooped out the middle and filled it with whipped cream and topped with berries. Those looked good -- we could make those for a special "treat" and that way we wouldn't have as much "cake" to eat. We could use greek yogurt/cream cheese pudding to fill ours - yum.

Never did work out yesterday - -between the house cleaning and shopping I figured it was enough. Getting ready to go to the gym now.

Sandy, I tend to agree with the ones telling you to wait until you lose the rest of your weight because I think if you have it done and then lose 20 more pounds it will sag again. Maybe not - see what the expert says -- will be interesting to hear. I'm going to work on that this week too -- I need to go get a consult - someone referred some names to me so I need to check them out. I didn't do it the first time I lost 100 pounds (over 20 years ago) and I truly feel like if I had done it I might not have gained the weight back. I think like our bands, if we are desparate enough to undergo a knife I think it makes a big impact on our minds. Yesterday as I was zipping around that store grabbing all these cheap clothes I kept hearing myself saying "I LOVE being skinny" lol, seriously, it was like my brain was sending me independent thoughts to inspire me.

Cheri, the article will be hard to write, but I know it will also be quite theraputic for you -- it may be helpful for you as well as way to help your healing process. It will also help everyone who reads it. It's wonderful for you to volunteer to do that -- it's a tough job.

Eva hugs on the drains and doggie illness issues -- hope it's all better by now.

Apples, so happy you are in good weather and enjoying yourself -- if anyone deserves it you do!!! I'm sure your FIL is very happy to have you so close -- especially if you are cooking him food and sending it home with him!! He probably hopes you never leave!!

Janet, can't wait to see the pics on FB - sounds like you had a great evening with Jodi, Dassi, Phyl and Earl - bet the doggies enjoyed having someone paying attention to them also!

Well, gotta get moving -- need to go do a good workout this morning. We will probably get Aylah this afternoon -- as Katie is probably not going to be well enough to care for her and get her off to school in the morning.

Julie, hugs on the pain.

Arlene, you are a fabulous daughter -- your DM is so lucky!! Tell your sister she can't have the stuff -- she doesn't need it. LOL. Sell it and give the $$ to your mom instead. Or better yet, use it to buy her something she does need.

Later,

Linda

Have a great day everyone!

Good afternoon. Settling in and getting ready to watch my Packers beat some Bears! (at least I hope so LOL). Got the tshirt on even got DH wearing one. He's a diehard Broncos fan but since his team isn't in it and he really dislikes Jay Cutler after how he treated Denver, he's rooting for the Pack as well.

DD is doing well. Contractions have really settled down. She has a dr appt in the morning and they are doing another ultrasound to measure the baby, cervix, etc.

Linda & Janet, good job on the shopping! I might have to go check out Penneys by my house. I always find such bargains there for DH in the Tall department.

Sandy, will be very curious to follow your journey and consulations regarding the Tummy Tuck.

Laura, good going on tossing the rest of that cupcake batter before it even got baked into cupcakes.

Just checking in....

Joyce, Woohoo on the trip. I would so love some warm weather, but on an island is even better. Take pictures. Happy Trails!

Lori, I just sat down and heard the end of the game. I guess you are celebrating. Glad DD is better.

Linda, You go girl! on the Penney's sale. I went the other day for my mother. I did not find her size. She is a petite 6-8. There must be a lot of short petites in this city because they are hard to find. I went to my mother's today to do laundry. She said she think she had a stroke a couple of weeks ago because she is so weak. They did not test her for a stroke, but she is getting a lot of therapy right now. Funny, she asked me to order some wrinkle cream off of a Tv commercial. She said it would make her look ten years younger. That is the least of her worries, but it sounds like she is coming back mentally.

Janet, Yes, my mother said she is going to sell her glass table to the workers at the retirement home. So my sister is SOL!

I know y'all had a great time. I always think about Vegas. It puts a smile on my face

Melissa, good going on the clean eating. The tough love from us is because we want you to live a long healthy life. So many of us waited to eat healthy after our joints, backs, and GI problems got out of control. You are young.....you can save yourself from those problems now and even get control of the diabetes. HUGS!

Apples, glad you are enjoying the vacation. I just heard of another person with kidney stone problems. Is it a weather change problem?

Eva, where are you taking Apples next?

Julie......how's it going with the Lyrica?

Sndy.....I know you must be enjoying a free weekend.

Jessica.....did you break a bone?

Meredith...?

Tx......where are you?

LauraK.....dance, dance, dance.....a good way to shake those extra LBS off or keep them from coming back.

Laura......saw some pics of Nels on FB. He is such a cutie pie!

Cheri......you ok?

Phyl.....What wine are you drinking now? Found any good buys?

I had BBQ chicken today with green Beans for lunch. I am finishing it up for dinner. My problem now is getting in my exercise. I will just have to walk till I can get back to the gym. Caregiving is time consuming. I just have to keep my pedometer on and keep on walking. Later!

hi everyone...

I am p.o.ed at my DH. Three words: GIRL SCOUT COOKIES!

I remember having this conversation last year around this time. He was so sweet and kept them at work for the others to eat. He took Nels to a movie and to get a baseball helmet and brings home TWO boxes of my favorite Cookies. Now, I KNOW he intended for them to be for Nels. But............ it doesn't matter............... I ate a whole row of Thin Mints. Sigh. uuuuuuggggggggghhhhhhhhhh. rrrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhh. pllllllllppbbbbbbbbb.

Going to the YMCA in the morning if it's the LAST thing I do.

nite nite...peasout... Laura

Thanks for all the encouragement. I can and will get this under control. I was at Walmart and bought one of those bright yellow walking vests so people can see me when I walk to work the days the weather is not too bad. It actually and impluse buy.

Okay don't think I am crazy but I am going to whine like a little kid for a moment. I am having a tantrum kicking my feet and pounding my fists. So we went out for dinner for my Mom's and my birthday. My parents gave me a hundred dollars (yeah) I wanted to get more of my tattoo done on my back but NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO I have to use it for bills. WTF why do I have to be an adult. Most of all of you know my job and money troubles so it only makes sense to use it for my bills. But come on I need a break. Okay I am done back to being an adult.

Well, I got my weekend off and I took full advantage of it. DH and I took our daughter out to lunch on Saturday and spent the rest of the day relaxing. I exercised this morning and relaxed all afternoon on the couch. I read a book and napped with the dog. It was a great afternoon with the exception of the Bears losing. Uggh.

Linda, we will have to compare notes after our consultations. Mine is on the 4th. I bet you and DH had an enjoyable day out. Good going on the shopping. Hmmm, maybe I will have to check our Penny's.

LauraK, what a great way to get in some exercise. I worked out to Jillian Michaels. I bet you had more fun. Haha.

Joyce, have a great time. Enjoy the sun.

Arlene, I am glad your Mom will part with her glass table. Our friend's mother fell through her glass coffee table and nobody knew until the following day. When they couldn't reach her by phone they went over and found her. Unfortunately, she died a few days later. It was wonderful of the nurse to point out the dangers to you.

Melissa, it's a shame you had to be "responsible" with your B-day money. Keep at it. Things will turn around one day. When that happens, get a BIGGER tattoo. Don't worry about whining, we all do it from time to time. It helps to let it out.

Cheri, I saw your post on FB. I am sorry you are still grieving so hard. (((Huggs)))

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I sure did.

Hello all. I've been busy busy and haven't had time to post really. Thurs-Sat are crazy busy days with a ton to do at work. But, still, I would rather cram everything into 3, 12 hour days than spread it all out over 4 or 5. Had a 13th bday party today for Andrews bf's step-daughter. She is a sweet girl. It was actualy kind of nice. I was shocked. Usually there are 1,000 little kids running around screaming and we all sit in the basement. Today the adults sat upstairs, and it was GREAT!

I just wanted some input on something real quick. Ok, so as most of you know, I have really been busting my butt at the gym, and eating between 800-1200 cals per day. The scale has NOT budged 1 pound! What the heck?????? I'm frustrated! What should I do? The same? Keep doing what I'm doing and hope it just melts off? I know that this doesn't happen over night, but it should move a little bit, right? Anyhow, sorry to complain, but these are the things that frustrate me during this journey.

CBL~ Meredith

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
