Janet...hope that pickles moves soon. I snack on sweet pickles all the time. bread and butter and the little tiny sweets are my favorite. Also love the sweet baby cocktail onions.

Thanks Melissa...not much can be done except to replace the damaged bin. We have good ins coverage and life goes on. Could have been much worse.

Thanks for the bday and annv greetings. Anniversary (30th) was on the 10th.

Apples Hugs on being alone on the bday!!! You got us - I know it's not the same - I think I might have a hard time with that one - cuz in my family Bdays were big things - Even as a grown up my Parents always took you out to dinner for you bday - it was one of the time I got to eat lobster :0) - The other was when I went to LaCosta and spend a few days with them each summer - In fact it was my 25 or 27 bday and they took me to a Marriott where lobster wasn't on the menu - my Stepmom knew it was my fav - so that had it specially brought in - Heck I was 36 and still had Santa Claus - I have had a good life even when you put in the not so nice stuff. I have been truly blessed..

But gotta say you got a great dh and this is your lively hood so all things considered it could be worse :0)...

Yes its good that after 3 weeks you will be getting back to your regular schedule - What are you doing about the job offer??

Ya it's in great to get w/gf and bitch about stuff - then you feel so much better - knowing you aren't alone in the things you are going thru..

The pickle went down - think the coffee helped - it was cuz I ate it too fast and didn't chew

Made it thru the gym even though that's all I have eaten today.. I guess the caffiene buzz helped...

Now I'm not hungry and don't know what I want for dinner and by the time I do get hungry it will be too late to cook a meal - so I will most likely end up eating an omelet..

Janet...not so bad being alone tonight. I have had many delightful bday parties. Like I said, farming has to get done. We are sooooooooo late this year and have to get work done when it is possible.

My 50th party was just awesome. Over 250 ppl there. DS (who was stationed in Iraq at the time) and DS who was going to school in FL planned it all from afar. It was a surprise party and youngest DS showed up which was a further surprise. After that party and how special it was, I need not further parties. DS planned karoke for the party (yep, momma loves to sing) and got on the mike at the end of the night and hollared "Party at our house". Well, party finally over at 5am. Wall to wall ppl in showed up at our house.

It's your Birthday? Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!! and many more!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Arlene. I just caught up with Janet.

On a normal day I am diligent in getting the right combination of Protein, etc., etc. etc. Today I decided that since it was my bday, I would eat whatever I wanted and not count Fiber or anything. Are you guys ready for this???

Breakfast: 1 cup steel cut oats with raisins, dates and brown sugar. An hour later...20oz of white chocolate capacino. An hour later...a Snicker Marathon bar...an hour later...boiled egg, ham and turkey...an hour later...Atkins choc/PB protein bar....hour later...another 20 oz capacino...an hour later..6 oz black berries....an hour later...20 oz hot chocolate...an hour later...1.5 cups Kashi crunch cereal...an hour later....6 oz black berries...an hour later 1.5 cups Kashi crunch cereal...now I am sipping on another capacino.

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!!!

There will come a day when all of this catches up with me and I will need to put the brakes on. Doc's nurse gave the OK that stomach is empty and hour after a meal so I do eat every hour on the hour. It's actually work getting in what I need each day to maintain.

Hi. You seem to be a great source of information so maybe you can help me. I was banded 6/04/2009 and have lost 28 pounds since my weigh in for insurance on 4/29/09. I started at 243 and weight 215 now. I am really losing slow and trying to figure it out. My sister is a doc and says that if I don't eat enough my metabolism will get too slow - but then everything I ready says to eat about 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup at meals with a small snack and that is all. I am bouncing back and forth between these two ideas and honestly getting nowhere. I read that you eat 900 - 1200 caloreis a day but that can be alot of food or alittle bit of food - depending on what you eat. Can you give me some suggestions?

Nope GF I won't be trying it at home  - I know my metabolism isn't as good as yours :0) and I doubt it's going to catch up with you:tongue: - watch eating like that is going to make you loose more weight :0)

But I gotta say the scales have been moving in the right direction for the last few days - need to get it down there so when I have all this food later in the week when family is here - I won't go into the red zone...

During my weight loss phase I would eat about 1 cup food for Breakfast and lunch - dinner has always been 1 to 1.5 cups of food and my Snacks are saved for the evenings.. I'm a nite time eater so I budget my calories to compensate for that..

I still am a volume eater to a degree as much as my band will allow

Your sister is right you have to eat - and imho you can not live the rest of your life eating 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food - this is a life time - lifestyle change in our eating habits - it's most about the types of food that we ate prior to being banded - I ate very high fat & sugar and tons of carb - along with large portions

IMHO I think eating 1.5 cups per meal is a normal portion but again I am at maintenance

Attached is a menu - Hope it helps

Janet...good to hear your scales are "unstuck". That's the thing I admire about you. You have a range where you are comfortable and will not allow yourself to go over your limitations on the scale. I think what made most of us fat to begin with was seeing that we were going up in weight, feeling defeated, and then giving up. You rock!

I also have that same respect for slow losers. The ones that are so patient even though it takes them twice as long to lose.:(

Happy Birthdays Phyll & Apples. Had a long day. I had to run all my turkey paraphanalia over to my daughters after school and babysat there for a couple of hours. Last night I wrote out all instructions for cooking the turkey to her. This is her first turkey--she's subbing in my absence. I don't think she even likes turkey that much. I gave my sister the directions to my turkey a couple of years ago so will probably still be helping make it in Tennessee and eat it.

Julie you're sounding better. Love Thanksgiving. Made sure I saw all my grandchildren the past couple weeks since I won't see them at Thanksgiving.

One more day of teaching. I love my job but I need the break.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
