Possible Tight Fill

Recommended Posts

I posted on Monday about a PB episode I had on Sunday after getting a fill on Saturday 04/16, after that I went back on liquids, Monday and Tuesday I had Soup almost all day and yesterday evening I was able to eat about 5-6 spoons of food (some spagetti) I know it isnt band food but I had just a little bite because that was all I could eat. Well today I tried to have toast and oatmeal in the morning and all I was able to eat was 2 bites of toast and 3 spoons of oatmeal and I felt so full like it I was about to throw up (very uncomfortable) but no PB, before lunch (30 minutes before) I drank a tea so the warmth could help relax my stomache and at lunch time I had a Healthy Choice meal that had meat loaf, mashed potatoes and green Beans, I had about 5 spoons full and guess what I was in the bathroom 5 times each time coughing up what I just ate, that lasted about 30 minutes, so now I just drank a slim fast and I feel fine.

Am I to tight or should I stick to mostly liquids (tea, de-cafe coffee, water) I mean I have no problem drinking and when I eat sometimes it will stay and sometimes it wont!!

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I see two things that could have caused your problems, bread and potatoes. (and possibly pasta) Some bandsters can eat those, but the majority can't. I would try to eliminate those and see what happens. You might be too tight, but I would see what happens if you eat protien, and a veggie.

Also when you pb, you need to go on liquids for at least 24 hours or you will keep having problems!

Good luck!

I agree with Betty. I cannot eat bread or Pasta and only some potatoes. It seems like good restriction to me. But it's whatever you are comfortable with. Oatmeal has a way of swelling up and filling me up really fast too. Also, it's rare that (when I have what I consider good restriction) I can eat much at all before about 10 in the morning.

I would try Protein first, chewing very, very well.

I have seen in different boards where alot of people who have a band have problems eating in the morning but they are okay in the evenings.

When I ate the spagetti I was fine but it seems to be when I eat about noon or so that I have problems. This is my second fill, with my first one I didnt have any of these problems. I am also afraid of not lossing because I am not eating enough calories!!

I can't eat potatoes of any kind. When I read you were having a Healthy Choice meal, I thought oh that sounds good. Since my fill on the 6th, anything over a couple of bites and here it comes. Very annoying I might add.

Hi All,

I have come to the conclusion that my band is possessed. REALLY! It does want it wants, when it wants. Quite often I have trouble at dinner, any and everything sticks right away, and here we go the big PB. Other times I can eat everything, and alot, NO PROBLEM. Go figure...

Well I honestly think that My band is also possessed. And quite frankly I am its really starting to annoy me.. I love that I've lost 30 lbs, but it seems that I should be losing more since I can hardly eat anything. I've been watching what I eat really good and quite frankly it too little, for example the other day we had chicken wings for dinner, well I ate one and was fine, started on a second and nope had plenty, now is 1 1/2 chicken wings enough, because if I try to eat anything else then that comes back. Sometimes I wish I wouldn't have gotten my band, I hate the not knowing and hate myself for not having the discipline to have done it on my own, but then I think I did do it on my own many times, but each time the weight returned and hopefull this time it won't, all I hope is that I can someday figure this band out and can work with it better, I think I'm not losing at this point because I'm not taking enough in.

Oh well, this is life.

Estela,

How filled is your band now?? I am also afraid of not lossing because I eat so little but I am starting to drink some Slim Fast in the morning and at lunch today I had something small but for break at 2:00 I will have a Jello. Its been really hard this week because its my second fill and I am just getting to figure it out but I think in the long run it will be worth it!

I have 2cc's in, My first fill was 1 cc, had no restriction, went back added .2 ccs had no restriction, went back a third time and had tons of restriction from day one. He took me to 2 cc's and quite frankly it was too much, I have had a lot of restriction for the last month and its getting to me, I often feel weak from not eating enough, I guess i should start doing shakes or something, but I'm just really frustrated. When I go out to eat, I talk alot and mess with my food so that who ever I'm with doesn't notice that I hardly ate anything. I dream of being able to eat a hamburger with the bun, but I can't, I can't even eat a couple of bites of it, it comes back, I know that its not good for me, but its not like I would eat it everyday, I just want to satisfy my craving for a hamburger and its impossible, I started walking this morning and maybe just maybe I can start to see some weightloss again. I want to be at 145 by the end of June when I get my tt and Lipo. Well sorry about going on and on, I just get really cranky when I'm hungry and tired. Talk to you later.

If I were you I'd give yourself a couple of more days and then if you're still too tight then go get a slight unfill, because that's probably what I'm going, except I called the doctors office and they are relocating to another office, so they are not seeing patients to the first week in May, so I have to call back then. Oh well, meanwhile, I'll just suffer with this darn tight band.

Thats how it is. new fill new diet. I was very concerned with my last fill. I was very restricted but when I thought about it I was finally eating like I was suppose to with the band finally!. The situation eased over three weeks and now I am perfect so I say give it time and be very careful learning your new diet. Say goodbye again to some more lbs too!!!

Toast- no way.

Pasta - rarely

Oatmeal - most of the time - smooth

potatoes - mashed with gravy only.

eggs - sometimes.

coffee&tea before eating-most of the time and a good idea for me!

Meal Replacement shakes for Breakfast with Vitamin supplements inside. - always.

It's been 23 days since my last fill and I'm still miserable. I'd rather lose slowly than pb everything I try to eat. I had gained 12 of muscle my 3rd month, it's probably all gone now. I hate to give in, but I plan on calling my doctor and get an itsy bitsy tiny bit taken out. I know he's going to be frustrated with me because I've had more unfills than fills. I was up to 2 in a 4cc band, now I'm barely 1.75. What's a bandster to do.

I was ready to go for an unfill this weekend but I did what I had mentioned before. I went on liquids for a few days and realized that I was geting full with 4-5 spoons of food and when I keeped on eating even one more it would make me pb because I was way to full but didnt realize it. I did find this weekend and even lost some weight!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
