I've been lurking around here for a little over a month and have even replied to some threads, but I thought I'd formally "introduce" myself and say hi.

Hi!

I'm going to get banded by Dr. Kirshenbaum in Colorado on July 16. I'm excited and nervous at the same time, but more excited than nervous. I know what makes me the most excited is that I feel like I have finally found the tool that will allow me to be successful. I've known for many years now what the "right" decisions are, but making them consistently is tough! But hopefully this will make it a little less tough than before.

Anyway, hello, and best of luck to everyone. I look forward to learning more about lap band and the people and stories here as I continue my journey. =)

Thanks! I can't wait!

How lucky you are to be within driving distance of Dr. K. I have relatives in Denver that I can visit when I'm there, but we're not close enough that I would fly to Denver for every fill.

Hi G Bear

You are in such good hands with Dr. K!!!!I feel fortunate enough to live in Aurora and found Dr. Kirshenbaum. He is such a great surgeon. I had my surgery on May 9th and had an awesome experience. I am just a few years older than you and decided it was time to finally get my life in control. I didn't want to wait for insurance to go through and jump through so many hoops. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I am healing and recovering well. I get my first fill in 3 weeks. Good luck in your journey. Keep me posted!C

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
