Hi, I'm Diane and am happy to say I was just banded on May 13th. Dr. Guske with the Kane WLS did the proceedure at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, IL. The last I remembered I was in PreOpt and the clock was at 2:45pm, I awoke in post opt 3:30pm. I was banded in about a half hour. It took forever to get there, but once your there it went fast. I was up and walking within a half hour. The ice chips were great for the dry mouth. It's been 4 days, and I feel pretty good. My stomach is swollen. I have 5 small incessions and only one of them is sore and red around it. Is this anything to worry about? How long do you stay swollen and red? I am still feeling full eating a popcycle or a Jello, It's Great. I had gained weight the week before surgery, Mother's day brunch didn't help. So as of today I am still up 2 pounds from the week before surgery.

I started out my journey at 231 lbs with my first Dr. visit. I weighed 223 lbs. the day of surgery. This morning I am 215 lbs. yeah, and this is just the beginning.

It's one week out now and I am feeling great. The red and swollen area by the port is better. I am able to do everything except heavy lifting. If you lift something too heavy you feel the muscle by the port. I went back to work yesterday and had no problems putting in a full day. I am able to add mushie foods into my diet this week. It was wonderful to eat cottage cheese after all the liquids. Good Luck in June.

Hi Margo! Any tips for making recovery easier? How did you avoid all of that terrible gas pain everyone talks about?

Kathy, hi there. Thats what i mean I was expecting the worst and to be honest, I had very little pain. I have had no gas pain, yet. Its been 1 week. I have been driving, going to store often to buy sugar free popsickles trying different flavors. I did do alot of praying.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
