Fill and Unfill Question

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm fairly new to this site and was seeking some information. More than likely I'm going to be a self-pay patient. I have an idea of what the cost of a fill will run me. My question is, if the fill is too tight and an unfill has to be done, am I responsible for payment of that as well? More than anything right now I want to have this procedure done, but I'm fearful that I'll be paying out hundreds of dollars every month on fills and unfills. Any information anyone can provide is much appreciated

I had a fill on May 6th. I was not able to wait around much but found out after I left that I was filled too tight. I went right back 2 hours later and had the Dr. take out 1cc. There was no charge, but I think that depends on your Dr. When you get a fill you should be asked to wait at least 5 minute while sipping some Water to make sure that your fill is a good one.

You have to ask your surgeon. My surgeon has a policy of 7 days I believe. If you are too tight its only $25 or so just for the needle.

I strongly recommend people choose a doctor who includes fills as part of the fee for surgery. I needed five fills to reach my sweet spot, and am very thankful that I didn't have to pay for each one. I think I would have put fills off and not gotten them when needed if I had to pay. If that isn't an option for you, I would call your doctor with that specific question because it is a good one.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I will definitely be asking these questions to my doctor.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
