How can you possibly take 30 min to eat a 4oz- 6oz meal???? Or a Protein Shake. I'm getting my 1st fill on Thursday, and i'm kinda nervous!!! In the last 4 weeks, I've never had a tiny meal that last me 30 min. Even if I chop it up,use a small spoon.... and chewing it into mush.... It doesnt take me 30 min... more like 5min if that! How many of you actually take 30 min to eat your meal?

It doesn't take me 30 minutes to eat a meal either, but I strive to be the last one done at the table. I figure for a 1 cup meal it takes me about 15-20 minutes. HOWEVER, I do have to say that I was never filled like most people. I never hit what most people considered a sweet spot because if I couldn't eat without pain, I got an unfill. Plus I was tired of my food getting cold!

It actually takes me about 20-30 minutes to eat my meals, depending on what I am eating. I am at perfect restriction right now, so I take very small bites and am careful to chew my food to mush. Then, I wait a bit between each bite to see if I get my "full" signal.

It only takes me about 10 mins to eat a 4 oz meal. Actually my doc says you should only take 5-15 mins to eat. Differnet docs different ways I guess. I can't imagine spending 30 mins of that amount od food.< /p>

I do try .......but......i never can stretch it out to 30 mins, simply not enough food on my plate to last that long.

I usually take around 20-30 min. It's better to not take any longer than that, as stretching out a meal for too long means food falls through the pouch and you can eat more.

I guess if I'm just eating only -- no conversing with those around me -- it doesn't take very long to eat. But generally there is conversation at the table, so I'm putting the fork down between bites and talking too.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
